Tertiary lymphoid structures (TLS) are associated with favorable outcome in non-metastatic colorectal carcinoma (nmCRC), but the dynamics of TLS maturation and its association with effective anti-tumor immune surveillance in nmCRC are unclear. Here, we hypothesized that not only the number of TLS but also their composition harbors information on recurrence risk in nmCRC. In a comprehensive mole...

Registration of point clouds is a fundamental issue in Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) remote sensing because point clouds scanned from multiple scan stations or by different platforms need to be transformed to a uniform coordinate reference frame. This paper proposes an efficient registration method based on genetic algorithm (GA) for automatic alignment of two terrestrial LiDAR scanning (...

Translesion DNA synthesis (TLS) is a DNA damage tolerance mechanism in which specialized low-fidelity DNA polymerases bypass replication-blocking lesions, and it is usually associated with mutagenesis. In Saccharomyces cerevisiae a key event in TLS is the monoubiquitination of PCNA, which enables recruitment of the specialized polymerases to the damaged site through their ubiquitin-binding doma...

The four encapsidated RNAs of brome mosaic virus (BMV; B1, B2, B3, and B4) contain a highly conserved 3' 200-nucleotide (nt) region encompassing the tRNA-like structure (TLS) which is required for packaging in vitro (Y. G. Choi, T. W. Dreher, and A. L. N. Rao, Proc. Natl. Acad. Sci. USA 99:655-660, 2002). To validate these observations in vivo, we performed packaging assays using Agrobacterium-...

BACKGROUND/AIM Tumor lysis syndrome (TLS) is a life-threatening complication associated with cancer chemotherapy. We retrospectively evaluated the risk of developing TLS in patients with symptomatic multiple myeloma undergoing chemotherapy. PATIENTS AND METHODS Sixty-four patients (median age=71 years, range=48-87 years, 35 males/29 females) who were treated at our Institution between April 2...

Tumor lysis syndrome (TLS) is an oncological emergency caused by massive cytolysis of malignant cells. This syndrome eventually induces metabolic abnormalities. TLS is observed mainly among tumors with rapid cell proliferation or high sensitivity to antineoplastic treatment. In rare cases, TLS occurs without any cytotoxic treatment. Previous reports have shown that alternative stress including ...

BACKGROUND The analysis of lipids in serum lipoprotein fractions is useful in assessing the risk for coronary artery disease, but it typically involves performing multiple tests. An automated single-tube assay, referred to as the triple lipid screening (TLS) test, can be used for measuring HDL-cholesterol (HDL-C), total cholesterol, and triglycerides (TGs) with no specimen pretreatment. METHO...

We investigate how to safely export additional cryptographic keys from secure channel protocols, modelled with the authenticated and confidential channel establishment (ACCE) security notion. For example, the EAP-TLS protocol uses the Transport Layer Security (TLS) handshake to output an additional shared secret which can be used for purposes outside of TLS, and the RFC 5705 standard specifies ...

De novo formation of tertiary lymphoid structures (TLS) has been described in lung cancers. Intratumoral TLS seem to be functional and are associated with a long-term survival for lung cancer patients, suggesting that they represent an activation site for tumor-specific T cells. Here, we characterized T-cell recruitment to TLS in human lung cancer to identify the adhesion molecules and chemoatt...

We study counterintuitive dynamics of a two-level system (TLS) interacting with electric field superoscillating in time. We show that a TLS may be excited by an external light pulse whose spectral components are below the absorption line of the TLS. We attribute this unique dynamics to the Rabi oscillations of the TLS in a superoscillating driving field.
