UNLABELLED BACKGROUND CuO-TiO2 nanosheets (NSs), a kind of nanomaterials is one of the most attracting class of transition doped semiconductor materials due to its interesting and important optical, electrical, and structural properties and has many technical applications, such as in metal ions detection, photocatalysis, Chemi-sensors, bio-sensors, solar cells and so on. In this paper the sy...

Solar light induced interfacial charge transfer of electrons from TiO2 to CuO in a water-glycerol mixture produced 99,823 μmol h(-1) g(-1)catalyst of hydrogen gas. The dispersed CuO/TiO2 photocatalyst in solution exhibited uni-directional electron flow and capture at the Schottky barrier facilitating charge separation and electron transfer resulting in enhanced H2 production performance.

SiO2-TiO2 mixed oxides have been prepared by sol-gel technique from titanium tetraisopropoxide and tetraethylorthosilicate. The prepared materials were characterized by X-ray diffraction, FT-IR spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, nitrogen physisorption and UV-vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy. The results indicate that compared to pure TiO2, the SiO2-TiO2 mixed oxides show higher the...

Titanium dioxide (TiO2) incorporated ordered 2D hexagonal mesoporous silica (SiO2) films on a glass substrate were fabricated for use as a catalytic nanoreactor. Films were prepared using a tetraethyl orthosilicate (TEOS) derived SiO2 sol and a commercially available dispersion of TiO2 nanoparticles (NPs) in the presence of pluronic P123 as the structure directing agent. The effect of TiO2 dopi...

In the present work, a novel photocatalytic fuel cell (PFC) system involving a dual heterojunction photoelectrodes, viz. polyaniline/TiO2 nanotubes (PANI/TiO2 NTs) photoanode and CuO/Co3O4 nanorods (CuO/Co3O4 NRs) photocathode, has been designed. Compared to TiO2 NTs electrode of PFC, the present heterojunction design not only enhances the visible light absorption but also offers the higher eff...

We report the synthesis of a new Au nanocatalyst with increased thermal stability. This catalyst system consisted of gold nanoparticles attached to functionalized TiO2/SiO2 core-shell nanocomposites, together with the encapsulation of mesoporous silica. The synthesis process mainly involved four steps, which included the synthesis of the TiO2/SiO2 core-shell composites, synthesis of the Au/TiO2...

The chemical bonding of particulate photocatalysts to supporting material surfaces is of great importance in engineering more efficient and practical photocatalytic structures. However, the influence of such chemical bonding on the optical and surface properties of the photocatalyst and thus its photocatalytic activity/reaction selectivity behavior has not been systematically studied. In this i...

The biotemplating technique is an environmental-protective high-efficiency new technology by which the resulting TiO2 may simultaneously attain the duplication of structure and self-doping elements from biotemplate materials, which is highly desirable for photocatalytic applications. In this paper, aquatic plant leaves—including reed, water hyacinth, and duckweed—were used as both templates and...

Increasing in production and exposure to engineered nanoparticles (NPs), make necessary to acquire information about NP potential adverse health effects. Many studies, focused on NP toxicity, highlighted their cytotoxic potential but there is still a lack of information about the biological mechanisms involved. The aim of this research is the comparison of cytotoxicity between two types of meta...

In this paper, CuO nanoparticles are synthesized using Tilia platyphyllos extract as reducing and stabilizing agents and TiO2are prepared via facile sol-gel method as an ideal support. FT-IR spectroscopy, UV-Vis spectroscopy, X-ray Diffraction (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscopy (FESEM), Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy (EDS), and Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) were used to characte...
