Primary roots of radish (Raphanus sativus L.) seedlings were exposed to an inhomogeneous static magnetic field generated by a permanent magnet, during continuous rotation on a 0.06 rpm clinostat, thereby reducing the unilateral influence of gravity. The roots responded tropically to the static magnetic field with the tropism appearing to be negative. These roots responded significantly (P < 0.0...

It has been reported previously that exposure to static high magnetic fields of 7 T or above in superconducting magnets has behavioral effects on rats. In particular, magnetic field exposure acutely but transiently suppressed rearing and induced walking in tight circles; the direction of circular locomotion was dependent on the rats' orientation within the magnet. Furthermore, when magnet expos...

Nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) experiments are typically performed with samples immersed in a magnet shimmed to high homogeneity. However, there are many circumstances in which it is impractical or undesirable to insert objects or subjects into the bore of a high-field magnet. Here we present a methodology based on an adaptation of nutation echoes that provides resolved spectra in the presenc...

This letter discusses a novel static control approach applied to magnetic soft continuum robot (MSCR). Our aim is demonstrate the of multi-magnet (SCR) in 3D. The proposed controller, based on simplified yet accurate model robot, has high update rate and capable real-time shape control. For actuation MSCR, we employ dual external permanent magnet (dEPM) platform sense via fiber Bragg grating (F...

_ Speed control of permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) using Direct Torque Control has rapid response and good static and dynamic performance but less accurate since current, torque and flux linkage wave forms contain big ripples. To overcome these disadvantages stator flux linkage and rotor speed are estimated using Extended Kalman Filter. Therefore, sensorless speed control of surface p...

Transcranial static magnetic field stimulation (tSMS) was recently introduced as a promising tool to modulate human cerebral excitability in a noninvasive and portable way. However, a demonstration that static magnetic fields can influence human brain activity and behavior is currently lacking, despite evidence that static magnetic fields interfere with neuronal function in animals. Here we sho...

A dysprosium(III) sandwich complex, [Dy(III)(COT″)(2)Li(THF)(DME)], was synthesized using 1,4-bis(trimethylsilyl)cyclooctatetraenyl dianion (COT″). The complex behaves as a single-ion magnet and demonstrates unusual multiple relaxation modes. The observed relaxation pathways strongly depend on the applied static dc fields.

A disc-like heptanuclear Co(II)-cluster, [Co7(bzp)6(N3)9(CH3O)3].2ClO4.2H2O (1) (bzp = 2-benzoyl pyridine), mixed-bridged by 3/4 azides (mu1,1 and mu1,1,1) and 1/4 mu1,1,1-methanol, shows slow relaxation at static zero and non-zero fields below 6 K, towards single molecule magnet behavior.
