Four wild and two cultivated soybeans were examined for the water imbibition and relationships with seed coat structure, histochemical and epicatechin content using light, fluorescence, electron microscope, and HPLC technique. Cultivated cultivars, Pungsan and Chungja showed the highest water permeability, while the wild soybean lines, YWS16 and YWS136 showed moderate, and YWS1420 and YWS1459 d...

We present a motion-based method to extract the multiple 3D crack surfaces from a sequence of 3D X-ray microtomographic mortar images. We verify the correctness and accuracy of results by ground truth obtained with simulated cracks in real specimens. We provide several three-dimensional measures of crack surface, including the number of cracks, surface area, volume, tortuosity, and permeability.

The boundary value problem for the Laplace equation outside several cracks in a plane is studied. The jump of the solution of the Laplace equation and the boundary condition containing the jump of its normal derivative are specified on the cracks. The problem has unique classical solution under certain conditions. The new integral representation for the unique solution of this problem is obtain...

the problem of several finite moving cracks in a functionally graded material is solved by dislocation technique under the condition of anti-plane deformation. by using the fourier transform the stress fields are obtained for a functionallygraded strip containing a screw dislocation. the stress components reveal the familiar cauchy singularity at thelocation of dislocation. the solution is empl...

Pavement cracks are important information for evaluating the road condition and conducting the necessary road maintenance. In this paper, we develop CrackTree, a fully-automatic method to detect cracks from pavement images. In practice, crack detection is a very challenging problem because of (1) low contrast between cracks and the surrounding pavement, (2) intensity inhomogeneity along the cra...

The propagation of cracks in three dimensions is analyzed by a meshless method. The cracks are modeled by a set of triangles that are added when the propagation occurs. Since the method is meshless, no remeshing of the domain is necessary during the propagation. To avoid using a large number of degrees of freedom, the stress singularity along the front of the cracks is taken into account by an ...

In 3-D analyses of rock slopes there’re can be numerous sliding paths a long a coplanar nonpersistent discontinuity with a known strike. This paper describes an approach for the determination of a most probable sliding path. For this particular study, several blocks of gypsum with the dimensions of 15×15×15 cm containing coplanar non-persistent open joints were fabricated. The models have vario...

In this study, we investigated a method for the non-destructive detection of cracks based on an ultrasonic transit timing method. This method is considered to be an effective means for crack monitoring over an extensive coverage area. Aluminum specimens were prepared with a range of crack sizes and subjected to a tone burst wave to investigate the relationship between crack depth and the transi...

Development of static analysis and relations between the cracks caused by subsidence in the walls without opening is necessary and unavoidable in the process of restoration of historical monuments, before preparing restoration plan and pathology. In other words, accurate and correct pathology, will determine the success of the restoration plan. Pathology process is an analytical issue which sho...
