Primary retroperitoneal masses are a rare but important group of neoplasms. Cross-sectional imaging has revolutionised the investigation of patients with retroperitoneal neoplasms. Both computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) can contribute to tumour diagnosis, though histological confirmation is often required because of the considerable overlap of imaging features. Cross...

Cross-sectional imaging can play an important role in the pretreatment evaluation of gynecologic cancer patients. In cancer of the uterus, cross-sectional imaging offers an assessment of morphologic prognostic factors, including tumor size, depth of penetration, stage of disease, and lymph node status. Imaging should be viewed as a complementary tool rather than as competitive with the other me...

The literature on reconstruction formulas for photoacoustic tomography (PAT) is vast. The various reconstruction formulas differ by used measurement devices and geometry on which the data are sampled. In standard photoacoustic imaging (PAI), the object under investigation is illuminated uniformly. Recently, sectional photoacoustic imaging techniques, using focusing techniques for initializing a...

[Purpose] Recently, we demonstrated that the thicknesses of trunk muscles measured using ultrasonography were correlated strongly with the cross-sectional areas measured using magnetic resonance imaging in untrained subjects. To further explore the applicability of ultrasonography in the clinical setting, the present study examined the correlation between ultrasonography-measured thicknesses an...

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Recently, the diagnostic and therapeutic importance of repeat radiologic imaging in stroke patients has been questioned. The aim of this study was to show the therapeutic and diagnostic consequences of both repeat brain imaging and follow-up vascular imaging in this group of patients. METHODS Neuroradiologic images and reports as well as clinical records of 317 patients...

Methods 79 children with HLHS in Fontan circulation (6.3±3.2 years) and 18 controls (6.8±2.4 years) underwent 3.0 Tesla cardiovascular magnetic resonance imaging. Gradient-echo cine and phase-contrast imaging was applied to measure cross-sectional areas, distensibility and pulse wave velocity (PWV) of the entire thoracic aorta, particularly the DAo. Cross-sectional areas were compared with norm...

A 29-year-old woman presented with profound iron-deficiency anemia. Cross-sectional imaging identified a mass in the ileal mesentery. Surgical resection was curative and revealed a giant cystic arteriovenous malformation. Our report highlights the role of cross-sectional imaging in the evaluation and management of iron-deficiency anemia and obscure gastrointestinal hemorrhage.

This study sets the objective to involve undergraduate students in the evaluation of radiologic sciences and medical imaging technology programmes in Sudanese universities. Based on the analysis of survey results in which the participants (BSc students undertaking radiologic sciences and medical imaging technology programmes at university level) are asked to answer both closed and open-ended qu...
