We studied the effects of non-Markovian power-law voltage dependent conductances on the generation of action potentials and spiking patterns in a Hodgkin-Huxley model. To implement slow-adapting power-law dynamics of the gating variables of the potassium, n, and sodium, m and h, conductances we used fractional derivatives of order η≤1. The fractional derivatives were used to solve the kinetic e...

abstract the extent to which teachers’ written corrective feedback (wcf) is conducive to esl learners’ improvement has been discussed since truscott’s claim in 1996. the mentioned debate continues because there has been lots of contrastive research studies with different results. this paper presents the results of a 2-month study of the effectiveness of wcf to 65 low intermediate iranian learne...

In this paper we present a new approach to determine trajectories for changing the state of the double pendulum on a cart from one equilibrium to another and show the experimental realization on a test bench. The control of these transitions is accomplished by a two-degrees-of-freedom control scheme. For the design of the feedforward and feedback control of the system two models of the double p...

We consider the use of linear multivariable feedback control to achieve a nonovershooting step response. A method is given for designing an LTI state feedback controller to asymptotically track a constant step reference with no overshoot and arbitrarily small rise time. Results are given for both minimum phase and nonminimum phase multivariable LTI systems.

A complementary bipolar low-power, high-speed, current-feedback operational amplifier is described. The amplifier incorporates a new Class AB output stage that enables high output current drive of 100 mA and large voltage swing within 1 V of the supply rails while operating at low quiescent current of 1.5 mA. The amplifier was fabricated in a junction-isolated complementary bipolar process with...

The paper describes a general automated method for synthesizing the design of both the topology and parameter values for controllers. The automated method automatically makes decisions concerning the total number of processing blocks to be employed in the controller, the type of each block, the topological interconnections between the blocks, the values of all parameters for the blocks, and the...

Recent manifestations of apparently faster-than-light effects confirmed our predictions that the group velocity in transparent optical media can exceed c. Special relativity is not violated by these phenomena. Moreover, in the electronic domain, the causality principle does not forbid negative group delays of analytic signals in electronic circuits, in which the peak of an output pulse leaves t...

corrective feedback (cf) and its different types have long absorbed many scholars and practitioners. as ellis (2009) mentioned some experimental studies need to be carefully designed to discover the relative effectiveness of each of these cf techniques. the goal of this qualitative study was to discover whether the employment of different cf strategies could bring about an attitudinal shift. to...

Background: Functional electrical stimulation (FES) is the most commonly used system for restoring functions after spinal cord injury (SCI). Objective: In this study we investigated feedback PID and feedforward-feedback P-PID controllers for regulating the elbow joint angle. Methods: The controllers were tuned based on a nonlinear muculoskeletal model containing two links, one joint with one de...
