This paper studies the construction of a refinement kernel for a given operator-valued reproducing kernel such that the vector-valued reproducing kernel Hilbert space of the refinement kernel contains that of the given kernel as a subspace. The study is motivated from the need of updating the current operator-valued reproducing kernel in multi-task learning when underfitting or overfitting occu...

Reproducing kernel Hilbert spaces and wavelets are both mathematical tools used in system identification and approximation. Reproducing kernel Hilbert spaces are function spaces possessing special characteristics that facilitate the search for solutions to norm minimization problems [3]. As such, they are of interest in a variety of areas including Machine Learning [11]. Wavelets are another mo...

We introduce a vector differential operator P and a vector boundary operator B to derive a reproducing kernel along with its associated Hilbert space which is shown to be embedded in a classical Sobolev space. This reproducing kernel is a Green kernel of differential operator L := P∗T P with homogeneous or nonhomogeneous boundary conditions given by B, where we ensure that the distributional ad...

P (α) = C(α, F (x, y)) = αF (x, x) + 2αF (x, y) + F (x, y)F (y, y), which is ≥ 0. In the case F (x, x) = 0, the fact that P ≥ 0 implies that F (x, y) = 0. In the case F (x, y) 6= 0, P (α) is a quadratic polynomial and because P ≥ 0 it follows that the discriminant of P is ≤ 0: 4F (x, y) − 4 · F (x, x) · F (x, y)F (y, y) ≤ 0. That is, F (x, y) ≤ F (x, y)F (x, x)F (y, y), and this implies that F ...

We characterize the reproducing kernel Hilbert spaces whose elements are p-integrable functions in terms of the boundedness of the integral operator whose kernel is the reproducing kernel. Moreover, for p = 2 we show that the spectral decomposition of this integral operator gives a complete description of the reproducing kernel.

We consider conditions on a given system F of vectors in Hilbert space H, forming a frame, which turn H into a reproducing kernel Hilbert space. It is assumed that the vectors in F are functions on some set Ω. We then identify conditions on these functions which automatically give H the structure of a reproducing kernel Hilbert space of functions on Ω. We further give an explicit formula for th...

The aim of this paper is to present a unified framework in the setting Hilbert $$C^*$$ -modules for scalar- and vector-valued reproducing kernel spaces -valued spaces. We investigate conditionally negative definite kernels with values -algebra adjointable operators acting on -module. In addition, we show that there exists two-sided connection between positive -modules. Furthermore, explore some...
