BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES The Transfusion-Related Acute Lung Injury (TRALI), is defined as noncardiogenic pulmonary edema temporally related to transfusion therapy, evolving with ventilation necessity mechanics in the great majority of the cases. This objective of this study was to present case of TRALI in the immediate postoperative of neurosurgery. CASE REPORT We describe the case of a pati...

Transfusion-associated acute lung injury (TRALI) has emerged as a leading cause of transfusion-related morbidity and mortality. TRALI is characterized by acute non-cardiogenic pulmonary edema and respiratory compromise in the setting of transfusion. The study of TRALI has been hampered by inadequate case definitions and an incomplete understanding of the pathologic mechanisms. Recent consensus ...

Purpose. Onset of transfusion-related acute lung injury (TRALI) is suggested to be a threshold-event. Data is lacking on the relation between titer of antibodies infused and onset of TRALI. We determined whether onset of TRALI is dependent on the titer of MHC-I antibodies infused in a combined model of ventilator-induced lung injury and antibody-induced TRALl. Methods. BALB/c mice were ventilat...

Transfusion related acute lung injury (TRALI) is a life-threatening complication of transfusion of blood and its components resembling acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) or acute lung injury (ALI). TRALI is a particular form of ARDS that follows blood transfusion and is caused by donor-derived antibodies present in the transfused products, reacting with the recipients' blood cells, indu...

Transfusion-related acute lung injury (TRALI) is the leading cause of transfusion-associated mortality in the US. Previously, we established an immune-mediated TRALI mouse model, wherein mice with cognate antigen were challenged with MHC class I mAb. In this study, when mice housed in a rodent, specific pathogen-free barrier room were challenged with MHC I mAb, there was significant protection ...

Transfusion-related acute lung injury (TRALI) is a hazardous complication of transfusion and has become the leading cause of transfusion-related death in the United States and United Kingdom. Although leukoagglutinating antibodies have been frequently shown to be associated with the syndrome, the mechanism by which they induce TRALI is poorly understood. Therefore, we reproduced TRALI in an ex ...

Transfusion-related acute lung injury (TRALI) is a serious adverse transfusion reaction that is presented as acute hypoxemia and non-cardiogenic pulmonary edema, which develops during or within 6 hr of transfusion. Major pathogenesis of TRALI is known to be related with anti-HLA class I, anti-HLA class II, or anti-HNA in donor's plasma. However, anti-HLA or anti-HNA in recipient against transfu...

Transfusion-related acute lung injury (TRALI) can cause morbidity and mortality. We present the case of teenager who developed dyspnea and hypoxemia few hours after red cell transfusion. After being admitted for close monitoring and oxygen therapy, her symptoms spontaneously resolved. Message: dyspnea during red cell transfusion should raise the suspicion of TRALI.

TRALI (Transfusion related acute lung injury) is a devastating complication of Blood transfusions or its components irrespective of the blood grouping and cross match, We report a case of a Philipino house wife who had blood transfusion for her vaginal lacerations and developed acute pulmonary edema immediately afterwards. Antigranulocyte antibodies were not found in the donors. The patient rec...
