Pyoderma gangrenosum is a rare non infectious neutrophilic dermatosis commonly associated with underlying systemic disease. Many treatment regimens have been reported. Herein, we report a case of refractory pyoderma gangrenosum with good response to combination of cyclosporine and mycophenolate mofetil.
Pyoderma gangrenosum occurrence in a familial pattern is extremely rare. We report pyoderma gangrenosum in two Tunisian siblings with onset respectively at 28 and 26 years old. The initial lesion was a pustule that breaks down to form an ulcer with an erythematous border. Treatment with oral corticosteroids induced an excellent clinical response. This familial clustering suggests a possible gen...
Pyoderma gangrenosum is an uncommon, destructive, cutaneous ulceration which presents as ulcerative, pustular, bulluous and vegetative forms, the ulcerative forms being more common. We present the case of 41-year-old woman with Crohn's disease who presented with a rather unusual form of pyoderma gangrenosum, aseptic cutaneous abscess. It was initially misdiagnosed as a fistulous tract in the ab...
Pyoderma gangrenosum is an uncommon ulcerative cutaneous dermatosis associated with a variety of systemic diseases including inflammatory bowel disease, arthritis, hematological malignancies, hepatitis and acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). The pathogenesis of pyoderma gangrenosum remains unknown. Its diagnosis is usually based on clinical evidence and confirmed through a process of eli...
PG: pyoderma gangrenosum TNF: tumor necrosis factor INTRODUCTION Pyoderma gangrenosum (PG) is a neutrophilic dermatosis with an important inflammatory component that usually presents as a nonhealing ulcer. This cutaneous disorder has been associated with several systemic conditions including inflammatory bowel disease. Treatment options for PG in pregnancy are limited. We present a case of pyod...
Pyoderma gangrenosum is a rare ulcerative cutaneous disorder commonly associated with systemic diseases such as inflammatory bowel diseases. This paper reports a case of pyoderma gangrenosum affecting the mouth and the skin associated with ulcerative colitis. A Medline search in English literature from 1961 to 2012 revealed only 11 documented cases of pyoderma gangrenosum with oral involvement....
Pyoderma gangrenosum is a rare, neutrophilic ulcerative skin disease of unknown etiology often associated with an underlying systemic disease. We present a case of a pyoderma gangrenosum that was initially misdiagnosed and treated as squamous cell carcinoma in another hospital. Multiple surgical treatments triggered postoperative exacerbations and further rapid progression of the lesions. Histo...
Diagnosis: Pyoderma gangrenosum. A biopsy was performed, which revealed neutrophilic infiltration with epidermal and dermal ulceration characteristic of pyoderma gangrenosum (figure 1). Cultures were sterile. The patient commenced therapy with intravenously administered hydrocortisone. This was followed within 2 days by defervescence and reduction in the inflammatory changes. His therapy, which...
Objective: Postsurgical pyoderma gangrenosum is a rare but potentially devastating condition for surgical patients. While pyoderma gangrenosum has 2 subtypes, typical and atypical, each can be further classified by its heralding features. These include ulcerative, pustular, bullous, and vegetative. The presentation can be a result of trauma or, as mentioned before, postsurgical. The plastic and...
Pyoderma gangrenosum is a phenomenon of cutaneous ulceration where etiology is not well understood. About half of the cases have an associated extracutanoeus manifestation or associated systemic diseases. Most commonly associated systemic disorders include inflammatory bowel disease, hematologic malignancies, autoimmune arthritis, and vasculitis. We are reporting a case where pyoderma gangrenos...
