Pseudomonas stutzeri strain 19 is a Gram-negative bacterium capable of degrading aromatic hydrocarbons. The draft genome of P. stutzeri 19 is estimated to be 5.1 Mb, containing 4,652 protein-coding genes and a G+C content of 63.3%. Multiple genes responsible for the degradation of aromatics are present in this strain.

Invasive infections due to Pseudomonas stutzeri have rarely been described and mainly occur in immunocompromised individuals. We report a case of infective endocarditis caused by P. stutzeri after previous cardiac surgery in a Lebanese patient with Marfan syndrome. We review the literature and conclude that this pathogen may be of particular medical relevance in the Mediterranean Basin.

Pseudomonas stutzeri is an aerobic, nonfermentative, gram-negative rod with polar monotrichous flagella. We report the case of a four-year-old boy who developed community-acquired pneumonia and empyema caused by P. stutzeri. To our knowledge, this is the first report on community-acquired pneumonia and empyema caused by this organism in childhood.

BACKGROUND Studies on membrane proteins are often hampered by insufficient yields of the protein of interest. Several prokaryotic hosts have been tested for their applicability as production platform but still Escherichia coli by far is the one most commonly used. Nevertheless, it has been demonstrated that in some cases hosts other than E. coli are more appropriate for certain target proteins....

A case of septicemia caused by Pseudomonas stutzeri belonging to the unusual biotype Vb-3 in a patient with multiple myeloma is described. The origin of the septicemia was attributed to a community-acquired pneumonia. The bacteriology and pathogenicity of P. stutzeri are reviewed.

Pseudomonas stutzeri strain YC-YH1, isolated from pesticide-polluted soil, efficiently degrades organophosphorus pesticides (OPPs) such as chlorpyrifos, parathion-methyl, triazophos, and parathion. Here, we report the genome sequence (4.83 Mb) of P. stutzeri YC-YH1 to facilitate further investigation of the OPP-degrading mechanism.

Pseudomonas stutzeri is a Gram-negative, rod-shaped, motile, single polar-flagellated, soil bacterium that was first isolated from human spinal fluid and is widely distributed in the environment. It was isolated as an uncommon opportunistic pathogen from humans, and a few cases of P. stutzeri-induced peritonitis have been reported in patients undergoing continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis...

Pseudomonas stutzeri strain KMS 55 (MTCC 12703) is an isolate from the root tissues of rice (Oryza sativa L.) that displays a high biological nitrogen fixation ability. Here, we report the complete genome sequence of this strain, which contains 4,637,820 bp, 4,289 protein-coding genes, 5,006 promoter sequences, 62 tRNAs, a single copy of 5S-16S-23S rRNA, and a genome average GC content of 51.18...

Pseudomonas stutzeri A1501 is an endophytic bacterium capable of nitrogen fixation. This strain has been isolated from the rice rhizosphere and provides the plant with fixed nitrogen and phytohormones. These interesting features encouraged us to study the metabolism of this microorganism at the systems-level. In this work, we present the first genome-scale metabolic model (iPB890) for P. stutze...
