Silicon and graphene are promising anode materials for lithium-ion batteries because of their high theoretical capacity; however, low volumetric energy density, poor efficiency and instability in high loading electrodes limit their practical application. Here we report a large area (approximately 15 cm × 2.5 cm) self-standing anode material consisting of molecular precursor-derived silicon oxyc...
The breath figure (BF) method is a simple technique for fabricating micropatterned surfaces but has been rarely studied using graphene oxide (GO) or reduced GO (rGO). Additionally, fabrication of rGO (MPGO MPrGO) by the BF focuses on smooth and dense inorganic substrates, investigation adjusting MPGO morphology limited. This research systematically studies self-assembly MPrGO surface two model ...
importance of covalent bonded two-dimensional monolayer nanostructures and also hydrocarbons is undeniably responsible for creation of new fascinating materials like polyphenylene polymer, a hydrocarbon super honeycomb network, so-called porous graphene. the mechanical properties of porous graphene such as its young’s modulus, poisson’s ratio and the bulk modulus as the determinative properties...
Pressure-driven ultrafiltration membranes are important in separation applications. Advanced filtration membranes with high permeance and enhanced rejection must be developed to meet rising worldwide demand. Here we report nanostrand-channelled graphene oxide ultrafiltration membranes with a network of nanochannels with a narrow size distribution (3-5 nm) and superior separation performance. Th...
A novel 3D hierarchical nanocomposite of vertically aligned porous FeP nano-wires on reduced graphene oxide is prepared as a demonstration of constructing an efficient hydrogen evolution catalyst. Extension of this nanostructuring strategy to other functional nanocomposites by combining different dimensional nanomaterials is attractive.
We present a new type of electrochemical supercapacitors based on graphene nanowires. Graphene oxide (GO)/polypyrrole (PPy) nanowires are prepared via electrodepostion of GO/PPy composite into a micoroporous Al2O3 template, followed by the removal of template. PPy is electrochemically doped by oxygen-containing functional groups of the GO to enhance the charging/discharging rates of the superca...
Ultra-light porous networks based on nano-carbon materials (such as graphene or carbon nanotubes) have attracted increasing interest owing to their applications in wide fields from bioengineering to electrochemical devices. However, it is often difficult to translate the properties of nanomaterials to bulk three-dimensional networks with a control of their mechanical properties. In this work, w...
We report the design and synthesis of two porous graphene frameworks (PGFs) prepared via covalent functionalization of reduced graphene oxide (RGO) with iodobenzene followed by a C-C coupling reaction. In contrast to RGO, these 3D frameworks show high surface area (BET, 825 m(2) g(-1)) and pore volumes due to the effect of pillaring. Interestingly, both the frameworks show high CO2 uptake (112 ...
Graphene oxide hydrogel is used as a reactive template to prepare nanoporous materials with a 3D microstructure. The as-prepared porous MnO2 shows a capacitance retention of ~70.6% at a current density as high as 15 A g(-1), resulting from the 3D interconnected ion transport channel replicated from the graphene oxide hydrogel.
In-situ homogeneous dispersion of noble metals in three-dimensional graphene sheets is a key tactic for producing macroscopic architecture, which is desirable for practical applications, such as electromagnetic interference shielding and catalyst. We report a one-step greener approach for developing porous architecture of 3D-graphene/noble metal (Pt and Ag) nanocomposite monoliths. The resultin...
