Ongoing studies in South America of phorid flies of the genus Pseudacteon Coquillett 1907 have revealed two further new species in this genus that are described here: P. obtusitus and P. notocaudatus. Both species are parasitoids of Solenopsis (F.) fire ants.

This case study demonstrates the importance of the Phorid, Megaselia abdita (Schmitz), as an indicator for post-mortem interval estimation in criminal investigations involving forensic entomology where it is usually the more frequently occurring Calliphorids that are most useful. A case example is discussed where the temperatures were low for the period of time the deceased was missing.

we report a case of human nasal myiasis caused by flower fly larva in a 14-year-old rural girl in central province of iran. entomological studies on larva showed the larva as eristalis tenax which is a rarely cause of nasal myiasis. this is the first reported case of e. tenax larva causing human nasal myiasis in iran.
