Neonatal meningitis Escherichia coli (NMEC) is a common agent of neonatal bacterial meningitis, causing high neonatal mortality and neurologic sequelae in its victims. Here, we present the complete genome sequence of NMEC O18 (also known as NMEC 58), a highly virulent (O18ac:K1, ST416) strain.
Talent finding in sports can not only lead to winning teams but also ensure individuals continue to participate, improve their talents, and take preventive measures against injuries. Athletic talent often develops as the result of morphological, physiological, or psychological characteristics. Many of these characteristics are inherited, and genetics have important implications for talent. Tale...
Avian pathogenic E. coli and human extraintestinal pathogenic E. coli serotypes O1, O2 and O18 strains isolated from different hosts are generally located in phylogroup B2 and ST complex 95, and they share similar genetic characteristics and pathogenicity, with no or minimal host specificity. They are popular objects for the study of ExPEC genetic characteristics and pathogenesis in recent year...
Background: Spatially correlated overabundances of N15 and O18 observed in some low-density graphite meteoritic grains have been connected to nucleosynthesis taking place the helium-burning shell during core-collapse supernovae. Two reactions which identified as important final abundances are F18(n,?)N15 F18(n,p)O18. The relative strengths F18(n,p)O18 depend sensitively on ?0 p0 decay branches ...
Closely related Escherichia coli B2 strains O1:K1, O2:K1, O18:K1, and O45:K1 constitute a major subgroup causing extraintestinal infections. A DNA pathoarray analysis was used to develop a PCR specific for this subgroup that was included in the multiplex phylogenetic-grouping PCR method. Our PCR may serve to identify this virulent subgroup among different ecological niches.
Escherichia coli is a highly versatile species, causing diverse intestinal and extraintestinal infections. Here, we present the complete genome sequence of PMV-1, an O18:K1 extraintestinal pathogenic E. coli (ExPEC) strain that is used as a model for peritonitis in mice and was useful for deciphering the innate immune response triggered by ExPEC infections.
