This paper describes the adaptation of a finite element program with explicit time integration to a massively parallel SIMD computer, the CONNECTION Machine. The adaptation required the development of a new algorithm, called the exchange algorithm, in which all nodal variables are allocated to the element with an exchange of nodal forces at each time step. The architectural and C* programming l...
Cliff recession poses a significant threat to the built environment, transportation infrastructure and land use. In this paper, novel computational framework called Nodal-integration based Particle Finite Element Method (N-PFEM) is developed for modelling cliff resulting from weathering-induced landslides. The N-PFEM combines nodal-integration technique with PFEM in second-order cone programmin...
Metazoans use a handful of highly conserved signaling pathways to create a signaling backbone that governs development. How these few signals have such a versatile action likely depends upon the larger-scale network they form through integration, as exemplified by cross-talk between the Notch and receptor tyrosine kinase (RTK) pathways. We examined the transcriptional output of Notch-RTK cross-...
In this paper, the linearly conforming enriched radial basis point interpolation method is implemented for the elasto-plastic analysis of discontinuous medium. The linear conformability of the method is satisfied by the application of stabilized nodal integration and the enrichment of radial basis functions is achieved by the addition of linear polynomial terms. To implement the method for the ...
In this work we discuss two different but related aspects of the development of efficient discontinuous Galerkin methods on hybrid element grids for the computational modeling of gas dynamics in complex geometries or with adapted grids. In the first part, a recursive construction of different nodal sets for hp finite elements is presented. The different nodal elements are evaluated by computing...
The pseudoperturbative shifted l expansion technique PSLET [16-19] is generalized for states with arbitrary number of nodal zeros. Boundstates energy eigenvalues for two truncated coulombic potentials are calculated using PSLET. In contrast with shifted large-N expansion technique, PSLET results compare excellently with those from direct numerical integration.
