In this paper we study the implications of the recent high precision measurement of (g−2)μ by BNL [1] on new heavy physics beyond the SM. The effect of two d=6 operators on the anomalous magnetic momment of the muon is considered and the new physics contribution to aμ reported by BNL has been used to put bounds on the scale associated with these operators.
We have performed a search for the angular-momentum forbidden decay K+→π+γ with the E787 detector at BNL. No events were observed in the π+ kinematic region around 227 MeV/c. An upper limit on the branching ratio for the decay is set to be 3.6× 10−7 at 90% confidence level. Typeset using REVTEX
The experimental measurement of K→πνν is reviewed. New results from experiment E787 at BNL are presented: with data from 1995–97 the branching ratio has been measured to be B(K→πνν ) = (1.5 −1.2) × 10 . The future prospects for additional data in this mode are examined.
We outline a strategy for next-generation neutrino physics experiments based on beams from accelerators in North America. This strategy is based on the mounting evidence in favor of the large mixing angle solution to solar neutrino problem [1], which implies that in addition to measurement of sin 2θ13 and of the sign of ∆m 2 23, measurement of CP violation in the neutrino sector is a realizable...
The rare kaon decay program at BNL is summarized. A brief review of recent results is provided along with a discussion of prospects for the future of this program. The primary focus is the two golden modes: K + → π + νν and K • L → π • νν. The first step in an ambitious program to precisely measure both branching ratios has been successfully completed with the observation of two K + → π + νν ev...
In 1997, E787 at BNL reported evidence for the rare decay K+ ! + based on the observation of one event in the 1995 data set. The current status of this measurement is described. Supported by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada c 1998 by George Redlinger.
Background & Objectives: This investigation was prompted by the growing importance of nested case-control studies and the increasing frequency with which they are done in epidemiologic research. After a brief explanation of nested case-control studies, we evaluate the trends in research methodology over the last decade, especially with regard to cohort, case-control, and nested case-control des...
conclusions the study indicated that the rate of p. jirovecii infection is similar to those reported from asian, indian and african countries. the similarity of the genetic pattern between iranian and indian isolates is probably due to their close geographical proximity. patients and methods we used two nested pcr and pcr-rflp assays to amplify mt lsu rrna and dhps genes in 126 samples obtained...
cryptosporidiosis is a gastroenteric disease caused by the protozoan parasite cryptosporidium parvum. water–borne transmission of this organism has become more prevalent in recent years. current method for detection of c. parvum oocysts in water is immunofluoresence assay (ifa). the method is time consuming, laborious and particularly not–specific. it cannot determine the infectivity of detecte...
We discuss a muon anomalous magnetic moment in a five dimensional SU(3) gaugeHiggs unification compactified on M × S/Z2 space-time including Z2-odd bulk mass for a fermion. We calculate one-loop corrections to the anomalous magnetic moment of muon and find a lower bound for the compactification scale to be around 5 ∼ 6 TeV by comparing nonzero Kaluza-Klein mode contributions with the muon (g − ...
