This paper describes the frequency and number of Sphyrion laevigatum in the skin of Genypterus blacodes, an important economic resource in Chile. The analysis of a spatial distribution model indicated that the parasites tended to cluster. Variations in the number of parasites per host could be described by a negative binomial distribution. The maximum number of parasites observed per host was two.
Sphyrion is a member of the family Sphyriidae and currently consists three valid species, namely S. laevigatum, lumpi quadricornis. Species are mesoparasites variety bony fishes occur worldwide. The bodies post-metamorphosis females highly transformed with an elongated cephalothorax bearing conspicuous lateral processes. structure mostly used in identification different species. morphology adul...
The ability of seven species of aquatic plants (Elodea canadensis, Najas guadelupensis, Vallisneria spiralis L., Riccia fluitans L., Limnobium laevigatum, Pistia stratiotes L., and Salvinia natans L.) to absorb metal nanoparticles from colloidal solutions was studied. It was established that investigated aquatic plants have a high capacity for removal of metal nanoparticles from aqueous solutio...
Analyses of DNA sequences from the internal transcribed spacer (ITS) region of the nuclear rDNA and from a portion of a manganese-dependent peroxidase gene were used to assess the species in Amylostereum, including isolates from the mycangia of horntails, decay, and basidiomes. Four species are recognized: A. areolatum, A. chailletii, A. laevigatum, and A. ferreum. An unidentified Amylostereum ...
