Information about waste water from the manufacture offibreboard is given, and in this connection a classification of suspended and dissolved impurities occurring in the waste water of fibreboard mills is made. The influence on the concentration and the total amount of such impurities are discussed as a function of the extent of closing of the process wa ter system. Various methods of treatment ...

Rhythmic movements are often controlled by systems containing coupled subnetworks whose oscillations are of different frequencies. We show how fast inhibition from the pyloric network interacts with a slow modulatory input to control the frequency of the gastric mill rhythm of the crustacean stomatogastric ganglion. We deduce that the timing of the pyloric input is crucial in determining what a...

OBJECTIVE To evaluate the concept of C-Mill gait adaptability training. DESIGN Pre- and post-intervention assessments. SUBJECTS Sixteen community-dwelling persons in the chronic phase after stroke (mean age 54.8 years). METHODS Participants received 10 sessions (1 h per session, for 5-6 weeks) of gait adaptability training on an instrumented treadmill augmented with visual targets and obs...

A nuclear continuous bagasse weigher was installed at Felixton Sugar Mill towards the end of the 1973174 crushing season and accuracy checks were performed on the weigher using an assized weighbridge as the reference standard. The average error was found to be 0,2% of full scale whilst the individual test errors were all well within 2% of full scale.

The parameters of mill load (ML) not only represent the load of the ball mill, but also determine the grinding production ratio (GPR) of the grinding process. In this paper, a novel soft sensor approach based on multi-spectral segments partial least square (PLS) model and on-line adaptive weighted fusion algorithm is proposed to estimate the ML parameters. At first, frequency spectrums of the s...

With high fuel prices, fuel-savings technologies can provide significant economic benefits to steel mills. Reheating furnaces in integrated and mini-mills consume approximately half of the natural gas used to produce hot-rolled products. Recently, Praxair’s Dilute Oxygen Combustion technology (previously demonstrated for productivity improvements on mini-mill billet reheating furnaces) was exte...

Alaska's forest resource and its competitive position in the international timber market have important implications for a variety of market strategies and future research objectives. While the timber industry is limited by numerous infrastructure and economy of scale factors, the state does possess high quality raw materials. In order to evaluate future opportunities it is important to fully a...

The decrease in hot strength or even rolling load as strain increases in some stands of the finishing hot strip mill with no metallurgical reasons is a relatively common event. Apparently this fact is associated with modification in the tribological conditions between rolling stock and work roll surfaces due to unexpected interactions with scale. The aim of this work was to determine the values...

New chemicals, based on the synergistic effect between inorganic polyaluminium salts and organic cationic polyelectrolytes, have been tested for the chemical optimization of a dissolved air flotation (DAF) unit, used as internal treatment of process waters in a paper mill based on 100% recovered paper. Laboratory tests have demonstrated that polyamine modifications of the aluminium salts are th...
