Direct liquid-phase sulfonation of methane to methanesulfonic acid (MSA) with SO2 has been achieved in triflic acid using K2S2O8 as the oxidant and a small amount of a Ca salt as the promoter. The effects of reaction conditions on the conversion of SO2 to MSA were examined. Included were the influence of solvent acidity, reaction duration, reaction temperature, amount of K2S2O8, and composition...
The rearrangement reaction of thebaine (1) with methanesulfonic acid, in the presence of hydrogen sulfide, resulted in a sulfide-type bisaporphine 13, instead of the expected thiol 12. The acidic hydrolysis of the thiocyanato derivatives 3, 9, 20 and 21, obtained from thebaine (1), as well as the reduction of 9 and 21 with sodium borohydride yielded disulfide-type bisaporphines 16 and 23.
An expeditious, one-pot method for the synthesis of 3,4-dihydropyrimidin-2(1H)-ones using a mixture of phosphorus pentoxide-methanesulfonic acid (Eaton's reagent) at room temperature under solvent-free conditions is described. The salient features of this method include short reaction time, green aspects, high yields, and simple procedure.
We developed a palladium-catalyzed carbonylative Sonogashira reaction with aryl triazenes and alkynes as substrates and methanesulfonic acid as the additive. A series of α,β-ynones were synthesized by this alternative procedure. Notably, bromides, iodides and hydroxyl groups could be well-tolerated under these reaction conditions.
a classical theory is developed which calculates the momentum transfer rate constant between an ion and a non-polar molecule. the model takes into consideration the effect of diffraction outside the capture limit on the rate constants. the theory is used to calculate momentum transfer rate constant for cl- with trans-dichloroethylene and para-difluorobenzene. theoretical results are compared to...
This work is a proof-of-concept of the use azomethine-bearing diamines as novel hardeners standard epoxy compounds to yield cleavable and thermoformable covalent adaptable networks (CANs), with functional properties otherwise comparable conventional networks. A suitable aromatic diamine (TPA-o-PD) was synthesised at acceptable purity for intended successfully reacted DGEBA. The resulting cured ...
Airborne particles affect human health and significantly influence visibility and climate. A major fraction of these particles result from the reactions of gaseous precursors to generate low-volatility products such as sulfuric acid and high-molecular weight organics that nucleate to form new particles. Ammonia and, more recently, amines, both of which are ubiquitous in the environment, have al...
