Vibration phenomena that might be modelled well using linear vibration theory include small amplitude vibrations of long, slender objects like long bridges, aeroplane wings, and helicopter blades; small rocking motions of ships in calm waters; the simplest whirling motions of flexible shafts, and so on. However, interactions between bridges and foundations, between wings/blades and air, between...
In a recent paper we introduced Parikh slender languages and series as a generalization of slender languages de ned and studied by Andra siu, Dassow, P aun and Salomaa. Results concerning Parikh slender series can be applied in ambiguity proofs of context-free languages. In this paper an algorithm is presented for deciding whether or not a given N-algebraic series is Parikh slender. Category: F...
in this paper, an approximate axisymmetric method is developed which can reliably calculate fully viscous hypersonic flow over blunt-nosed bodies. in this method, a maslen’s second-order pressure expression is used instead of the normal momentum equation. the combination of maslen’s second-order pressure expression and viscous shock layer equations is developed to accurately and efficiently com...
during april 2013, branches of oak (quercus brantii lindl.) with fungal infection were collected from kohkiluyeh and buyer ahmad province of iran. laboratory survey indicated acervuli on the samples of oak dead twigs (3mm diameter). acervuli immersed in bark, were scattered, small (500µm), flat to subconical, 3-4 angled gray to black, hymenium labyrinthiform, pale grey, finally smeared over wit...
Kenny-Caffey Syndrome is a rare syndrome characterized by growth retardation, uniformly small slender long bones with medullary stenosis, thickened cortex of the long bones, hypocalcemia possibly with tetany at an early age, hyperphosphatemia, ocular abnormalities, and normal intelligence. We report a child with Kenny-Caffey Syndrome and idiopathic hypoparathyroidism and present a review of the...
cases of sparganum mansoni , caused by the plerocercoid larva of the tapeworm s. mansoni , occur throughout the world, particularly in asian, middle eastern, and european countries. however, cases of infection with this parasite are rarely seen in japan. here, we present a case of a 61-year-old woman with a solitary subcutaneous nodule in left inner aspect of the thigh, from which a long, slen...

Electron microscopic and other evidence have provided support for the hypothesis that the sickling phenomenon is due to the intracellular formation of long slender crystals of reduced sickle hemoglobin. The rapid growth of these crystals causing tenting of the cell membrane is responsible for the bizarre distortion of the erythrocytes and presumably for the disease itself.
