We introduce the tracial Rokhlin property for automorphisms of stably finite simple unital C*-algebras containing enough projections. This property is formally weaker than the various Rokhlin properties considered by Herman and Ocneanu, Kishimoto, and Izumi. Our main results are as follows. Let A be a stably finite simple unital C*-algebra, and let α be an automorphism of A which has the tracia...
Assume M is a type II1 von Neumann algebra, the algebra of n × n matrices over another von Neumann algebra N , with the tracial state τM. In this article, we discuss the properties of semicircular elements that are free with, with respect to τM, the algebra Dn consisting of scalar diagonal matrices in M. Then we define a concept “matricial distance” of two elements in M and compute it when the ...
We study the problem of extending a state on an abelian C∗-subalgebra to a tracial state on the ambient C∗-algebra. We propose an approach that is well-suited to the case of regular inclusions, in which there is a large supply of normalizers of the subalgebra. Conditional expectations onto the subalgebra give natural extensions of a state to the ambient C∗-algebra; we prove that these extension...
We give an example of a simple separable C*-algebra which is not isomorphic to its opposite algebra. Our example is nonnuclear and stably finite, has real rank zero and stable rank one, and has a unique tracial state. It has trivial K1, and its K0-group is order isomorphic to a countable subgroup of R.
We show that elements of unital C-algebras without tracial states are finite sums of commutators. Moreover, the number of commutators involved is bounded, depending only on the given C-algebra.
Suppose M is a von Neumann algebra with normal, tracial state ϕ and {a 1 ,. .. , a n } is a set of self-adjoint elements of M. We provide an alternative uniform packing description of δ 0
We prove the title, establishing the existence of a quasitrace on a (unital, simple) C-algebra (of real rank zero and stable rank one), which is not a tracial state.
In this paper we analyze the Banach *-algebra of time-frequency shifts with absolutely summable coefficients. We prove a noncommutative version of the Wiener lemma. We also construct a faithful tracial state on this algebra which implies the algebra contains no compact operators. As a corollary we obtain a special case of the Heil-Ramanathan-Topiwala conjecture regarding linear independence of ...
Let C be a unital AH-algebra and let A be a unital separable simple C-algebra with tracial rank no more than one. Suppose that φ, ψ : C → A are two unital monomorphisms. With some restriction on C, we show that φ and ψ are approximately unitarily equivalent if and only if [φ] = [ψ] in KL(C,A) τ ◦ φ = τ ◦ ψ for all tracial states of A and φ = ψ, where φ and ψ are homomorphisms from U0(C)/CU(C) →...
We define a tracial analog of the notion called sequentially split $$^*$$ -homomorphism between $$C^*$$ -algebras due to Barlak and Szabó show that several important approximation properties related classification theory pass from target algebra domain algebra. Then, we this framework arises Rokhlin finite group action an inclusion unital -algebras.
