Introduction: Diabetic retinopathy (DR) is one of the most serious and most frequent eye diseases in the world and the most common cause of blindness in adults between 20 and 60 years of age. Following 15 years of diabetes, about 2% of the diabetic patients are blind and 10% suffer from vision impairment due to DR complications. This paper addresses the automatic detection of microaneurysms (MA...

One constructs new operations of pull-back and push-forward on valuations on manifolds with respect to submersions and immersions. A general Radon type transform on valuations is introduced using these operations and the product on valuations. It is shown that the classical Radon transform on smooth functions, and the well known Radon transform on constructible functions with respect to the Eul...

The relation between Radon transform and orthogonal expansions of a function on the unit ball in R is exploited. A compact formula for the partial sums of the expansion is given in terms of the Radon transform, which leads to algorithms for image reconstruction from Radon data. The relation between orthogonal expansion and the singular value decomposition of the Radon transform is also exploited.

We present a novel approach to parameterised curve detection. The method is based on the generalised Radon transform, which is traditionally applied to a 2D edge/line map. The novelty of our method is the mapping of the original 2D image to a 3D orientation space, which then forms the input for the Radon transform. The orientation space representation can represent multiple intersecting structu...

A pattern descriptor invariant to rotation, scaling, translation (RST), and robust to additive noise is proposed by using the Radon, Fourier, and Mellin transforms. The Radon transform converts the RST transformations applied on a pattern into transformations in the radial and angular slices of the Radon transform data. These beneficial properties of the Radon transform make it an useful interm...

A chief problem in seismic data processing is the filtering of unwanted events like ground roll and multiples. Methods to deal with this problem often exploit moveout or curvature differences between offending events and the events one would like to preserve (primaries). In particular, removal of multiples based on moveout discrimination can be attained via parabolic and hyperbolic Radon transf...

This paper presents a new method for exponential Radon transform inversion based on the harmonic analysis of the Euclidean motion group of the plane. The proposed inversion method is based on the observation that the exponential Radon transform can be modified to obtain a new transform, defined as the modified exponential Radon transform, that can be expressed as a convolution on the Euclidean ...
