Fifty-two knees were examined using real-time high-definition ultrasonography with a 7.5 MHz probe. The extra-articular structures were easily visualized and diagnosis of patellar tendon lesions and Baker's cysts formulated. While the meniscal cartilages were shown as a homogeneous triangular structure between the femoral condyle and the tibial plateau, no lesions were detected. Deeper intra-ar...
Synovial lipomatosis is an extremely rare type of disease in which there excess adipose tissue involving the synovium layer joints or synovial sheath around tendons causing pain, paraesthesia, and weakness. The most common site being reported till now Knee joint parapatellar space other such as elbows shoulders are after knee joint, ankle rarely 2 cases have been English literature. We report a...
Objectives Ultrasonography (US) is a fast, available and low-cost imaging tool used for detecting knee synovitis. Our aims were to assess the relationship between US and histology findings in appraising levels of inflammation and vascularity in the knee joint in subjects with inflammatory arthropathies; to determine whether differences exist in the appraisal between varying knee compartments an...
Musculoskeletal ultrasound is a rapidly growing imaging modality used for the investigation and management of musculoskeletal disorders. The first report of musculoskeletal ultrasonography was published in 1958 by K. T. Dussik who measured the acoustic attenuation of articular and periarticular tissues including skin, adipose tissue, muscle, tendon, articular capsule, articular cartilage and bo...

BMJ Case Rep Published online: [please include Day Month Year] doi:10.1136/bcr-2014208293 DESCRIPTION A 27-year-old man presented with painless swelling of the right knee of 4 months’ duration. There was no history of trauma or other joint involvement. The patient’s serum rheumatoid factor was negative. Radiograph of the knee revealed increased lu...
Lipoma arborescens is a rare benign entity characterized by proliferation of villous fat tissue in subsynovial layer that usually affects the knee joint. We report a case of lipoma arborescens in bicipitoradial bursa of the elbow in a 44 year-old female patient. In spite of this rare location, radiographic findings by ultrasonography and magnetic resonance imaging made diagnosis possible.
We report 2 cases of pseudoaneurysm of the geniculate artery after a total knee arthroplasty (TKA). The first one was located in the superomedial geniculate artery and resolved after compression dressing and warfarin cessation. The second one was located in the superolateral geniculate artery and was successfully treated with transarterial embolisation. There was no recurrence in both cases. Th...
The purpose of this study was to investigate whether the knee and ankle angles at contact during running were related to the elastic properties of tendon structures in knee extensors and plantar flexors and performance in trained long distance runners. Thirty-two highly trained male long distance runners participated in this study. Elongation of tendon structures in knee extensors and plantar f...
[Purpose] The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of mechanical massage via Endermologie(®) after total knee arthroplasty in reducing edema and pain and improving knee range of motion, in the early postoperative period. [Subjects and Methods] Eighteen patients with knee edema following total knee arthroplasty were randomly assigned to the intervention group (n=8) or the control group...
