Building on the Renormalization Group (RG) method the beam-beam interaction in circular colliders is studied. A regularized symplectic RG beam-beam map, that describes successfully the long-time asymptotic behavior of the original system has been obtained. The integral of motion possessed by the regularized RG map has been used to construct the invariant phase space density (stationary distribu...

In this paper, the boundary-based estimation of pressure distribution in the cardiovascular system is investigated using two dimensional flow images. The conventional methods of non-invasive estimation of pressure distribution in the cardiovascular flow domain use the differential form of governing equations. This study evaluates the advantages of using the integral form of the equations in the...

A definition of concave integral is given for real-valued maps and with respect to Dedekind complete Riesz space-valued “capacities”. Some comparison results with other integrals are given and some convergence theorems are proved.

In this paper, we define the concept of Jacobi forms of half-integral weight using Takase’s automorphic factor of weight 1/2 for a two-fold covering group of the symplectic group on the Siegel upper half plane and find covariant maps for the SchrödingerWeil representation. Using these covariant maps, we construct Jacobi forms of half integral weight with respect to an arithmetic subgroup of the...

The Shimura correspondence is a family of maps which sends modular forms of half-integral weight to forms of integral weight by a Mellin transform [9]. Prior to Shimura’s work, Selberg discovered a special case of this correspondence when the half-integral weight form is a cusp eigenform on SL2(Z) times the classical theta function. In a recent paper [1], Cipra generalizes Selberg’s method and ...

For a finite-dimensional (but possibly noncompact) symplectic manifold with a compact group acting with a proper moment map, we show that the square of the moment map is an equivariantly perfect Morse function in the sense of Kirwan, and that the set of critical points of the square of the moment map is a countable discrete union of compact sets. We show that certain integrals of equivariant co...

We present a very short derivation of the integral representation of the two-sided Skorokhod reflection Z of a continuous function X of bounded variation, which is a generalization of the integral representation of the one-sided map featured in [1, 4]. We also show that Z satisfies a simpler integral representation when additional conditions are imposed on X.

The problem of computing a maximum a posteriori (MAP) configuration is a central computational challenge associated with Markov random fields. A line of work has focused on “tree-based” linear programming (LP) relaxations for the MAP problem. This paper develops a family of super-linearly convergent algorithms for solving these LPs, based on proximal minimization schemes using Bregman divergenc...

Several families of volume-preserving maps on R(3) that have an integral are constructed using techniques due to Suris. We study the dynamics of these maps as the topology of the two-dimensional level sets of the invariant changes. (c) 2002 American Institute of Physics.
