We review our investigation of the spin dynamics for two electrons confined to a double quantum dot under the influence of the hyperfine interaction between the electron spins and the surrounding nuclei. Further we propose a scheme to narrow the distribution of difference in polarization between the two dots in order to suppress hyperfine induced decoherence.
Hyperfine interaction constants and hyperfine components of Mn i lines in the near-infrared J and H bands were obtained by fitting the solar spectrum. I identified the 17744-˚ A solar absorption line as resulting from Mn i, and I discarded the identifications of the 13281.65-˚ A and 16929.85-˚ A solar features as a result of Fe i and Mn i, respectively.

We apply the subtraction method to an effective QCD-inspired model, which includes the Coulomb plus a zerorange hyperfine interactions, to define a renormalized Hamiltonian for mesons. The spectrum of the renormalized Hamiltonian agrees with the one obtained with a smeared hyperfine interaction. The masses of the low-lying pseudo scalar and vector mesons are reasonably described within the model.
