This paper summarizes recent results of our work toward a voltage standard based on a high-temperature superconducting (HTS) Josephson junction array. The concept of a programmable HTS voltage standard and technological aspects of its fabrication are discussed. New circuits providing uniform microwave current distribution along the HTS array are described.

High-throughput sequencing (HTS) technologies generate millions of sequence reads from DNA/RNA molecules rapidly and cost-effectively, enabling single investigator laboratories to address a variety of 'omics' questions in nonmodel organisms, fundamentally changing the way genomic approaches are used to advance biological research. One major challenge posed by HTS is the complexity and difficult...

Förster (fluorescence) resonance energy transfer (FRET) and fluorescence polarization (FP) are widely used technologies for monitoring bimolecular interactions and have been extensively used in high-throughput screening (HTS) for probe and drug discovery. Despite their popularity in HTS, it has been recognized that different assay technologies may generate different hit lists for the same bioch...

This paper presents experimental and simulation results of a screening current induced magnetic field (SCF) in a high temperature superconductor (HTS) insert that constitutes a low-/high-temperature superconductor (LTS/HTS) NMR magnet. In this experiment, the HTS insert, a stack of 50 double-pancake coils, each wound with Bi2223 tape, was operated at 77 K. A screening current was induced in the...

This paper presents the formalization of HTS (Hash Type System), a type system for component-based high performance computing (CBHPC) platforms. HTS aims at supporting an automated approach for dynamic discovering, loading and binding of parallel components. HTS gives support for building multiple implementations of abstract components, the performance of which are tuned according to the specif...

High-Temperature Superconducting (HTS) materials can introduce substantial improvement in signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of images for small-size sample or low-field MRI system (<1T) [1]. Expensive HTS thin film is typically used for making receiver surface coils for substantial SNR improvements [2]. A 5-inch HTS tape coil using silver-alloy sheathed Bi-2223 tape was first developed [3], which all...

High-throughput genomic technology has enabled us to screen the entire genome and generate hypotheses at relatively low costs. One of the driving forces in highthroughput genomic technology is high-throughput sequencing (HTS).With its rapid development and affordability, HTS has quickly become the go-to choice for interrogating the entire genome. The analysis methodology development for HTS has...

Rationale and Objectives. A number of recent reports in the MRI literature have established that substantial signal-tonoise ratio (SNR) gains can be achieved with small samples or low resonance frequencies, through the use of high-quality factor high-temperature superconducting (HTS) RF receive coils. We show the application of HTS coils to the imaging of human subjects with improved SNR compar...

It is proposed to apply high-temperature superconducting (HTS) tape in the coil windings for induction heaters for aluminium or copper extrusion billets. The potential for efficiency improvements is substantial, as conventional copper coil induction heaters rated for up to around 1 MW operate with an overall efficiency of typically only 50–60%. The efficiency of a HTS induction heater depends v...
