During the synthesis of prebiotic carbohydrates such as fructooligosaccharides (FOS), galactooligosaccharides (GOS), or isomaltooligosaccharides (IMOS), d-glucose is released a side-product transglycosylation process. It desirable to remove glucose from these sugar mixtures due its caloric contribution and effect on caries diabetes. In this work, we have investigated use immobilized Komagataell...

This study investigates the possible synergistic stimulatory effects of prebiotic chitooligosaccharide and some commercial prebiotics on probiotic growth. Different combination with inulin, fructooligosaccharide, lactulose were prepared their ability to stimulate growth strains was evaluated. Following Chou-Talalay method, index calculated used for assessment. The data showed that most combinat...

Abstract. Fructooligosaccharides (FOS) are additives that often used and utilized in the food, pharmaceutical, chemical industries have functional value for health. Lactobacillus plantarum B1765 has been known to inulinase activity. This research aimed further explore potential of L.plantarum production FOS from lesser yam tuber inulin by looking at total growth lactic acid bacteria (LAB) degre...

Abstract The objective of this work was to evaluate the effects dietary supplementation with fructooligosaccharides (FOS) on performance, hematology, and immunology pacu (Piaractus mesopotamicus) juveniles. A total 0 (control), 2.0, 4.0 g kg-1 probiotic were added fish diets. Fish (49.3±4.3 g) allotted into 12 tanks 60 L, in a completely randomized design (n=4). After days, final weight, weight...

A total of 720 newly-hatched Arbor Acres broilers were selected to investigate the effects of fructooligosaccharide (FOS) and B. subtilis on performance and microbial gut concentration in broilers. The result indicated that dietary supplementation with FOS or Bacillus in comparison to an antibiotic had selective effects on increasing caecal concentration of beneficial bacteria such as Lactobaci...

The effects of oligosaccharide supplementation on the growth performance, flock uniformity and GIT development of broiler chickens were investigated. Four diets, one negative control, one positive control supplemented with zinc-bacitracin, and two test diets supplemented with mannoligosaccharide (MOS) and fructooligosaccharide (FOS), were used for the experiment. Birds given MOS or FOS had impr...

Breast-fed infant microbiota is typically rich in bifidobacteria. Herein, major human milk oligosaccharides (HMOS) are assessed for their ability to promote the growth of bifidobacteria and to acidify their environment, key features of prebiotics. During in vitro anaerobic fermentation of infant microbiota, supplementation by HMOS significantly decreased the pH even greater than supplementation...

Lactic acid bacteria and bifidobacteria were screened of their ability to ferment fructooligosaccharides (FOS) on MRS agar. Of 28 strains of lactic acid bacteria and bifidobacteria examined, 12 of 16 Lactobacillus strains and 7 of 8 Bifidobacterium strains fermented FOS. Only strains that gave a positive reaction by the agar method reached high cell densities in broth containing FOS.
