The HIV-1 capsid protein consists of two independently folded domains connected by a flexible peptide linker (residues 146-150), the function of which remains to be defined. To investigate the role of this region in virus replication, we made alanine or leucine substitutions in each linker residue and two flanking residues. Three classes of mutants were identified: (i) S146A and T148A behave li...

The foundation of a generic modelling tool is its flexible diagramming facility. The paper proposes a universal graphical editor definition language based on logical metamodel extended by presentation classes. Some more advanced diagram definition facilities such as patterns and diagram cores are also introduced. Implementation principles of this language, based on Graphical Diagramming Engine ...

We report here the host-guest behaviour of two isoelectronic [Fe4L4](8+) tetrahedral cages that differ only in the nature of their face-capping ligand and possess either triazine (L1) or benzene (L2) cores. Crystallography reveals these hosts to be flexible and adaptable, while NMR spectroscopy shows them to be selective and discriminating in their host-guest behaviour.

[structure: see text] Dendrimers are attractive scaffolds for catalysis, since catalytic sites can be isolated and the catalysts are recoverable and reusable. Herein, we show that conformationally constrained molecules have better access to dendritic cores compared to the more flexible counterparts. The results reported here should have implications in utilizing dendrimers as scaffolds for arti...

Abstract: Several models of population/culture movements have been proposed based on bladelet production in Late Pleistocene of Eurasia. Narrow-faced bladelet/microblade cores, also known as "wedge shaped" cores in Central Asia and Far East studies, have been considered as a component of an inter-continent migration of people and idea which originated in Sibero-Mongolian region Upper Paleolithi...

Use of flexible endoscopes affords biopsy sampling of polypoid lesions of the colon, especially within the rectum and sigmoid colon by flexible fiberoptic sigmoidoscopes. Histologic examination of colonic biopsies usually allows division of polyps into neoplastic and non-neoplastic categories. There are significant limitations to such biopsies, however, due to sampling error and inability to re...

The manufacture of current transformers is associated with many design constraints, which include the restricted dimensions its installation places, requirements for accuracy class, as well limitation on safety factor or minimum limit factor. In a sense transformers, these are contradictory, resulting in flexible approach to transformers. use combined magnetic cores can be referred one areas, o...

Computing hardware has been shifting to a multicore paradigm. One extreme of that approach is many-core computing, where a large number of simple processor cores execute in throughput mode. However, this paradigm is not ubiquitous and latency-bound application do have a place in the workloads of the future. We propose a processor organization that allows an array of homogeneous cores to explici...

We built a 12.4 mm × 12.4 mm, 45-nm CMOS, chip that integrates eight 648-MHz general purpose cores, two matrix processor (MX-2) cores, four flexible engine (FE) cores and media IP (VPU5) to establish heterogeneous multi-core chip architecture. The general purpose core had its IPC (instructions per cycle) performance enhanced by adding 32-bit instructions to the existing 16-bit fixed-length inst...

Long marine sedimentary cores can be effective in paleo-climate reconstruction. The present research aims at analyzing  the temporal variation of temperature as an important climate parameter and also variations in metal concentrations (As, Ba, Cd, Li, Mo, Mg, Mn, Na, Pb, Sr, Zn, Fe, Ca, Al) of two long sedimentary cores at the Persian Gulf back to the Holocene. The obtained results revealed th...
