A patient with chronic unilateral maxillary sinusitis caused by a foreign body (dental amalgam) and mistaken diagnosis of extensive ethmoid neoplasm is presented. The imitation of tumour symptoms was due to a long presence of foreign body in the maxillary sinus and chronic inflammation of maxillary, ethmoid and sphenoid sinuses.

Damage to ethmoid structures following removal of nasal polyps can cause severe complications. A patient aged 48 years with damage to right orbital structures sustained in the course of transnasal endoscopic surgery for ethmoid polyps was operated. After operation were complications.

We present a case of ethmoid mucocele occurring in a two-month-old child, and associated (presumably causally) with a benign fibroosseous lesion of the ethmoid bone. These two conditions may be more frequently associated than previously recognized; MR greatly facilitates their evaluation.
