A 35-year-old woman presented with history of a painless, slow-growing nodule in a left eye caruncle over the last 2 months. The visual acuity was 20 / 20 and the ocular movements were in the normal range. The venereal disease research laboratory test, erythrocyte sedimentation rate, serum angiotensin converting enzyme level, and chest radiograph were all normal. An excisional biopsy was done t...
Abstract Bin Kimura, the most internationally renowned Japanese psychopathologist, developed a unique life‐theoretical position in his later years. Using the Gauss linking integral we define a new measure of entanglement for a collection of closed or open chains, the linking matrix. For a system employing periodic boundary conditions (PBC) we use the periodic linking number and the periodic selflinking number to define the periodic linking matrix. We discuss its properties with respect to the cell size used for the simulation of a periodic...
We revisit previous analyses on the computation of the maximum mutual information between a genetic sequence and its mutated versions down the generations, taking into account the protein translation mechanism of the genetic machinery. This amounts to the application of Shannon’s capacity to the study of the transmission of genetic information. Studies on this subject were started by Yockey and...
Kimura disease is a chronic inflammatory disorder that is prevalent among Asians. It rarely affects the upper limbs or paediatric patients. We report a case of Kimura disease with first presentation as a soft tissue mass in the arm mimicking a soft tissue neoplasm with metastasis in a 12 year old Chinese boy.
