We propose a novel approach of three-dimensional hybrid grid methodology, the DRAGON grid method in the three-dimensional space. The DRAGON grid is created by means of a Direct Replacement of Arbitrary Grid Overlapping by Nonstructured grid, and is structured-grid dominated with unstructured grids in small regions. The DRAGON grid scheme is an adaptation to the Chimera thinking. It is capable o...

This introductory article presents the special Discussion and Debate volume “From black swans to dragon-kings, is there life beyond power laws?” We summarize and put in perspective the contributions into three main themes: (i) mechanisms for dragon-kings, (ii) detection of dragon-kings and statistical tests and (iii) empirical evidence in a large variety of natural and social systems. Overall, ...

During avian embryonic development, terminal erythroid differentiation occurs in the circulation. Some of the key events, such as the induction of erythroid 2,3-bisphosphoglycerate (2,3-BPG), carbonic anhydrase (CAII), and pyrimidine 5'-nucleotidase (P5N) synthesis are oxygen dependent (Baumann R, Haller EA, Schöning U, and Weber M, Dev Biol 116: 548-551, 1986; Dragon S and Baumann R, Am J Phys...

The function F of Dragon plays an important role on both the keystream generation and the internal state update. We analyze the function F of Dragon by linear cryptanalytic methods. Thanks to an efficient algorithm on linear approximations of the modular addition, we observed that there were a large number of approximations with significant correlations in the nonlinear components of the functi...

Abstract Within William Shakespeare’s play Coriolanus , the title character Caius Martius refers to himself as a “lonely dragon.” This image of dragon in represents powerful fusion Celtic, Nordic, and classical myth well Christian theology—all which contain depictions dragons. Reading dragon, using Jungian archetypal terms mediated through Icelandic literature, unveils use fashion Martius’s tra...

A program analysis tool can play an important role in helping users understand and improve OpenMP codes. Dragon is a robust interactive program analysis tool based on the Open64 compiler, an open source OpenMP, C/C++/Fortran77/90 compiler for Intel Itanium systems. We developed the Dragon tool on top of Open64 to exploit its powerful analyses in order to provide static as well as dynamic (feedb...

BACKGROUND Intravenous (i.v.) thrombolysis within 4.5 h of symptom onset has proven efficacy in acute ischemic stroke treatment, although half of all outcomes are unfavorable. The recently published DRAGON score aims to predict the 3-month outcome in stroke patients who have received i.v. alteplase. The purpose of this study was an external validation of the results of the DRAGON score in a Spa...

The Twin Dragon and Rauzy fractals are intersected with the real axis. In the Twin Dragon case, unexpectedly from its fractal nature, the intersection is an interval characterized by a finite automaton. For the case of the Rauzy fractal, it is proved that the intersection has infinitely many components.

Grid-based path finding is required in many games to move agents. We present an algorithm called DBA* that uses a database of pre-computed paths to reduce the time to solve search problems. When evaluated using benchmark maps from Dragon Age, DBA* requires less time for search and produces less suboptimal paths than the PRA* implementation used in Dragon Age.
