A study of the passive transfer of delayed hypersensitivity to DNP-poly-L-lysine and to DNP-GL was performed in Hartley guinea pigs. Delayed hypersensitivity to DNP-PLL and DNP-GL could be transferred successfully only by means of sensitized cells from genetic responder guinea pigs and in most cases, only into those guinea pigs genetically capable of responding to PLL. The inability to transfer...

Administration of the 2,4-dinitrophenyl (Dnp) determinant conjugated to the "nonimmunogenic" copolymer of D-glutamic acid and D-lysine (D-GL) induces Dnp-specific immunological tolerance which is essentially restricted to bone marrow-derived (B) lymphocytes. Previous studies have demonstrated tolerance induction by Dnp-D-GL in predominantly B lymphocytes of the IgG class. The present studies es...

Genetic restrictions governing the induction and expression of suppressor T cells (Ts) in tolerance to 1-fluoro-2,4-dinitrogenzene (DNFB) contract sensitivity were studied. Tolerance was induced by using 2,4-dinitrophenyl (DNP)-modified lymphoid cells (DNP-LC) as tolerogen. Two kinds of Ts were found-those produced by DNP-LC syngeneic to the donor of the Ts (syninduced Ts), and those produced b...

A new electrophilic polymer, 2,4-dinitrophenyl ether of polyvinyl alcohol (PVA-DNP), having a degree substitution 0.5 was prepared from (PVA) and 1-fluro-2,4-dinitrobenzene (DNFB). The PVA-DNP polymer characterized by NMR, IR, UV-visible spectroscopy. reaction with sodium methoxide followed NMR Evidence bound spirocyclic SIGMA complex, C-1 C-3 DNP-methoxy complexes the formation methoxy complex...

This report has examined the mechanisms by which major histocompatibility complex (MHC) non-restricted suppressor T cells (Ts), induced by the i.v. injection of 2,4-dinitropheny (DNP)-modified, syngeneic lymphoid cells (DNP-LC), suppress the passive transfer of contact sensitivity mediated by syngeneic and allogeneic immune delayed hypersensitivity T cells (TDH). In terms of suppression of syng...

Primary antibody response against the dinitrophenyl group has been elicited in vitro after the stimulation of normal mouse spleen explants with 2,4-dinitrophenyl (DNP)-hemocyanin or alpha-DNP-poly-L-lysine (PLL). Antibodies were detected in the culture medium by the inactivation of DNP-T4 phage. The specificity of the reaction was manifested by the lack of the capacity of the medium to inactiva...

This study explores and characterizes the toxicity of two closely related carcinogenic dinitro-pyrenes (DNPs), 1,3-DNP and 1,8-DNP, in human bronchial epithelial BEAS-2B cells and mouse hepatoma Hepa1c1c7 cells. Neither 1,3-DNP nor 1,8-DNP (3-30 μM) induced cell death in BEAS-2B cells. In Hepa1c1c7 cells only 1,3-DNP (10-30 μM) induced a mixture of apoptotic and necrotic cell death after 24 h. ...

Dendroaspis natriuretic peptide (DNP), a recently discovered peptide, shares structural similarity to the other known natriuretic peptides, ANP, BNP, and CNP. Studies have reported that DNP is present in human and canine plasma and atrial myocardium and increased in plasma of humans with congestive heart failure (CHF). In addition, synthetic DNP is markedly natriuretic and diuretic and is a pot...

The capacity of dissociated spleen cell suspensions to be immunized by dinitrophenylated polymeric flagellin (DNP POL), in the absence of thymus-dependent lymphocytes or macrophages, provided a simple experimental system to investigate the mechanism of binding of antigen molecules to nonthymus-dependent lymphocyte (B cell) receptors during the induction of immunity or tolerance. Various nonimmu...

The induction of tolerance in guinea pigs with a 2,4-dinitrophenyl (DNP) derivative of a copolymer of copolymer of D-glutamic acid and D-lysine (D-GL) leads to a preferential depression of the capacity to produce high affinity anti-DNP antibody in response to immunization with DNP-guinea pig albumin. Thus, immunization 2 wk after tolerance induction with 3 mg of DNP-D-GL results in an immune re...
