In this note, we are interested in the symmetry property of a refinable function with a general dilation matrix. We investigate the symmetry group of a mask so that its associated refinable function with a general dilation matrix has a certain kind of symmetry. Given two dilation matrices which produce the same lattice, we demonstrate that if a mask has a certain kind of symmetry, then its asso...

In order to describe anisotropy in image processing models or physical measurements, matrix fields are a suitable choice. In diffusion tensor magnetic resonance imaging (DT-MRI), for example, information about the diffusive properties of water molecules is captured in symmetric positive definite matrices. The corresponding matrix field reflects the structure of the tissue under examination. Rec...

We introduce the notions of matrix–valued wavelet set and matrix– valued multiresolution analysis (A-MMRA) associated with a fixed dilation given by an expansive linear map A : R → R, d ≥ 1 such that A(Z) ⊂ Z, in a matrix–valued function space L(R,C), n ≥ 1. These are generalizations of the corresponding notions defined by Xia and Suter in 1996 for the case where d = 1 and A is the dyadic dilat...

We present a method for  the construction of compactlysupported $left (begin{array}{lll}1 & 0 & -1\1 & 1 & 0 \1 &  0 & 1\end{array}right )$-wavelets  under a mild condition. Wavelets inherit thesymmetry of the corresponding scaling function and satisfies thevanishing moment condition originating in the symbols of the scalingfunction. As an application, an  example is  provided.

in this paper, the maximal dissipative extensions of a symmetric singular 1d discrete hamiltonian operator with maximal deficiency indices (2,2) (in limit-circle cases at ±∞) and acting in the hilbert space ℓ_{ω}²(z;c²) (z:={0,±1,±2,...}) are considered. we consider two classes dissipative operators with separated boundary conditions both at -∞ and ∞. for each of these cases we establish a self...

Multiwavelets are generated from refinable function vectors by using multiresolution analysis. In this paper we investigate the approximation properties of a multivariate refinable function vector associated with a general dilation matrix in terms of both the subdivision operator and the order of sum rules satisfied by the matrix refinement mask. Based on a fact about the sum rules of biorthogo...

We establish results on convergence and smoothness of subdivision rules operating on manifoldvalued data which are based on a general dilation matrix. In particular we cover irregular combinatorics. For the regular grid case results are not restricted to isotropic dilation matrices. The nature of the results is that intrinsic subdivision rules which operate on geometric data inherit smoothness ...

BACKGROUND Heart failure in diabetics is associated with cardiac hypertrophy, fibrosis and diastolic dysfunction. Activation of transforming growth factor-β/Smad3 signaling in the diabetic myocardium may mediate fibrosis and diastolic heart failure, while preserving matrix homeostasis. We hypothesized that Smad3 may play a key role in the pathogenesis of cardiovascular remodeling associated wit...

Tight wavelet frames and orthonormal wavelet bases with a general dilation matrix have applications in many areas. In this paper, for any d × d dilation matrix M , we demonstrate in a constructive way that we can construct compactly supported tight M -wavelet frames and orthonormal M -wavelet bases in L2(R) of exponential decay, which are derived from compactly supported M -refinable functions,...
