We developed a packed-column chromatographic procedure capable of simultaneous quantitation of methanol, ethanol, isopropanol, acetone, and ethylene glycol. This method was then updated to a rapid, sensitive, wide-bore capillary method. The packed-column system uses direct injection of 1 microL of Na2WO4/H2SO4-deproteinized serum onto a 1.8 m x 2 mm (i.d.) column packed with 80/100 HayeSep R. A...

Calf thymus chromatin was partially deproteinized by 0.6-1 M NaCl extraction. From the shape of the temperature derivative plot of its melting curve, the DNA in each chromatin was resolved into regions of exposed DNA, and DNA still complexed with proteins. The partially deproteinized chromatin was capable of directing in vitro RNA synthesis in an amount proportional to the fraction of exposed D...

In pulsed field gradient gel electrophoresis (PFGE) the intact deproteinized circular DNA of Mycoplasma (800 kb) and Escherichia coli (4700 kb) remains trapped in the slot. We show here that gamma-irradiation of the DNA in agarose plugs is a convenient method to partially convert these circles into full-length linears, migrating with the expected mobility in PFGE. We have used this method to st...

We describe a fluorometric procedure, with use of fluorescamine, for determining plasma amino nitrogen in a 10-mul sample of deproteinized plasma. Values for apparently healthy human subjects agree well with those obtained by spectrophotometry. The simplicity and speed of the assay recommends it as a screening procedure for detecting aminoacidopathies.

The properties of the abnormal ribonucleoprotein particles produced by Escherichia coli Q-13 starved for glucose were studied. Smaller species of these partially deproteinized particles separable to six distinct sizes contained partially degraded ribonucleic acids. The mode of ribosome degradation under this condition is discussed in terms of differential appearance of these intermediate partic...

We present the use of deproteinized bovine bone mineral and a non-crosslinked collagen membrane for reconstruction significant alveolar defect in this clinical case report,. The patient had extensive loss anterior maxillary region, posing challenge implant placement. Therefore, ridge preservation was performed following tooth extraction, resulting horizontal regeneration. Two implants were subs...

Drug consumption should be based on the latest pharmacotherapeutic guidelines. However, in Serbia the consumption of so-called drugs with uncertain clinical benefit (pentoxifylline, dihydroergotoxine, nicergoline, deproteinized calf blood extract (DCBE) and cinnarizine) was not in line with the latest pharmacotherapeutic guidelines and was unusually high compared to countries with well develope...

BACKGROUND Increasing sinus pneumatization and the accompanying alveolar bone resorption complicate dental implant placement. This problem can be overcome today by raising the maxillary sinus floor with graft materials. Bisphosphonates are commonly used to accelerate the recovery of the graft materials and to prevent resorption. OBJECTIVES The purpose of this study is to investigate whether s...
