Novel copper(II) coordination compounds with chiral macrocyclic imine ligands derived from R-/S-camphor were asymmetrically synthesized and characterized with the aid of chiroptical spectroscopies. Crystal structures of both enantiomers were determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. Circular dichroism (CD) spectra were analyzed using a simplified exciton model as well as quantum ...
A practical Cu-catalyzed direct ortho-halogenation of anilines under aerobic conditions has been developed. The reaction shows typically excellent mono-substitution selectivity, high ortho-regiocontrol and large functional group tolerance.
Superoxide dismutase mimetic copper(II) complexes, such as copper(II)(3,5-diisopropylsalicylate)2 (CuDIPS), inhibit phorbol ester stimulated tumor promotion in mouse skin. Therefore, CuDIPS was tested as a potential inhibitor of another effect of phorbol esters, induction of interleukin 2 (IL2) synthesis, in the mouse thymoma cell line EL4. CuDIPS inhibited phorbol ester induced IL2 production ...
In the title compound, [CuCl(2)(C(6)H(7)N)(2)(C(12)H(8)N(4)O)](n), the Cu atom, located on an inversion center, is coordinated by four N atoms from two aniline ligands and two 2,5-bis-(4-pyrid-yl)-1,3,4-oxadiazole ligands. Two Cl atoms lying above and below the plane formed by these four N atoms inter-act weakly with the Cu atom [Cu-Cl = 2.7870 (7) Å]. The trans 2,5-bis-(4-pyrid-yl)-1,3,4-oxadi...
The ability of dissolved potassium monocarboxylate salts to produce surface passivation and to inhibit aqueous corrosion of copper was studied. The electrochemical measurements indicate that the inhibiting efficiency of these compounds, with a general formula Cn-1H2n-1COOK or CnK (n=3...12), is dependent on the hydrocarbon chain length. The inhibiting efficiency was higher for a longer hydrocar...
We have developed efficient copper-catalyzed additions of P(O)H compounds to alkynes, and the reactions provided the regio- and stereoselective E-alkenylphosphine oxides under catalysis of the commercially available and inexpensive copper catalyst system CuI/ethylenediamine. This finding is the first example of copper-catalyzed hydrophosphinylation of alkynes to synthesize alkenylphosphine oxides.
We and others recently identified copper resistance as important for virulence of Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Here, we introduce a high-throughput screening assay for agents that induce a copper hypersensitivity phenotype in M. tuberculosis and demonstrate that such copper-boosting compounds are effective against replicating and nonreplicating M. tuberculosis strains.
New chloroaluminate compounds with copper and cobalt have been prepared and intercalated into graphite. For the copper intercalated compound X ray analysis shows a chain structure. The magnetic properties are consistent with a model of finite chain distribution
