AIM To assess five main histological features of gastritis in gastric mucosa colonized with Helicobacter pylori before and after the treatment. METHODS Histologic assessment of H. pylori-associated gastritis was performed according to the Sydney classification before and after the treatment in 97 patients. Two additional parameters - the presence of lymphocytic aggregates and coccoid forms of...

background: helicobacter pylori ( pylori ) was the most common cause of chronic gastritis and was linked to peptic ulcer disease and gastric cancer. environmental factors such as water a reservoir of h.pylori which infect human.  a non-culture bacteria in coccoid forms widespread in aquatic environments.the objective of this study  was elevating the diagnostic value of pcr and culture methods f...

The microscopic sections of biopsy material derived from four patients diagnosed at having Hodgkin's disease (HD), including two necropsied cases, were all studied for the presence of acid-fast cell wall deficient (CWD) bacteria. Variably acid-fast and variably sized coccoid forms, suggestive of CWD bacteria, were observed in the pathologically altered tissue and also in some histologically "no...

High-resolution transmission electron microscopy and electron holography were used to study the habits of exceptionally large magnetite crystals in coccoid magnetotactic bacteria. In addition to the crystal habits, the crystallographic positioning of successive crystals in the magnetosome chain appears to be under strict biological control.

Iron- and manganese-depositing bacteria occur in many soils and all water systems, and their biogenic depositions of ochre in technical systems may cause severe clogging problems and monetary losses. "Candidatus Viadribacter manganicus" is a small coccoid, iron- and manganese-depositing bacterium isolated from the Lower Oder Valley National Park, Germany.

Nocardia africana was isolated from a subcutaneous nodule of a cat. The isolate developed orange, wrinkled colonies. The bacteria were rod shaped to coccoid (1 by 5 microm) and gram positive. Analysis of the 16S ribosomal DNAs of the isolate and a reference strain of N. africana showed 100% homology.

Microscopic tissue sections stained for bacteria were studied from autopsy material from a fatal case of scleroderma (progressive systemic sclerosis). Extra- and intracellular, variable-sized, pleomorphic but predominantly coccoid bacteria were observed in some organs such as in heart, lungs, adrenals, kidneys, pancreas, skin, and in the connective tissue. An attempt is made to correlated the a...

Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) is a major gastric pathogen that has been associated with humans for more than 60,000 years. H. pylori causes different gastric diseases including dyspepsia, ulcers and gastric cancers. Disease development depends on several factors including the infecting H. pylori strain, environmental and host factors. Another factor that might influence H. pylori colonization...
