Conventional switched capacitor converters have an inherent drawback that their efficiency decreases as the output current increases. This inherent drawback is due to a periodical forced charging and discharging operation in the internal switched capacitors accompanied by a large capacitor current. Their efficiency can not be increased by decreasing its internal resistance. As a result, convent...

Micromachined gyroscope always contains two groups of capacitors, one is the driving capacitor, which is used to drive the micromachined gyroscope, to make sure the gyroscope could oscillate along the driving direction. The other is so called the sensing capacitor, which used to detect the displacement along the sensing direction, in order to detect the input angle velocity. Since there are som...

Utilizing capacitor banks is very conventional in distribution network in order for local compensation of reactive power. This will be more important considering uncertainties including wind generation and loads uncertainty. Harmonics and non-linear loads are other challenges in power system which complicates the capacitor placement problem. Thus, uncertainty and network harmonics have been con...

The various optimal capacitor placement techniques on transmission and distributions lines for line losses reduction and enhancement of voltage stability in the power system network have been proposed so far in different papers. Optimal Capacitor placement is an optimization problem which has an objective to define the sizes and locations of capacitors to be installed. This paper focuses on the...

The electrical performance of Hybrid capacitors (US Patent 5,369,547) using high capacitance density electrochemical capacitor cathodes, electrolytic capacitor anodes and dielectric, and compatible electrolytes is strongly influenced by the nature of the electrolyte employed and the physical characteristics of the electrodes. Management of overall capacitor performance usually involves optimizi...

This paper represents an effective method for optimal placement of DG and capacitor in distribution system. The main objective is to reduce the power losses in the system by placing capacitor and DG of optimal size and at optimal location. Distribution system connects the high voltage transmission system and low voltage side, hence it is necessary to keep the system at minimum losses for making...

A switchable operational amplifier (op-amp) that uses a switched capacitor integrator has an advantage such as low power consumption and wide gain-bandwidth product. The power reduction is achieve by apply switching samples at the input and output capacitors. These capacitors can be otherwise would contribute in increase in power consumption. During the first phase of the sample the opamp compl...

Properly sized capacitor banks are connected across induction motors for several reasons including power factor correction, reducing distortions, increasing capacity, etc. Total harmonic distortion (THD) and power factor (PF) are used in such cases to quantify the improvements obtained through connection of the external capacitor banks. On the other hand, one of the methods for assessing the mo...

An alternative method for characterizing capacitor matching is presented. The basic idea of this method is to sense the mismatch among the capacitors by amplifying the error voltage using an iterative switched-capacitor scheme. Through simulation, this method has shown attractive property for sensing capacitor mismatches down to 1% and smaller.
