Different Extractants have been proposed to assess available P in different soils. Olsen method is widely used to determine available P in calcareous soils of Iran. However, it has not been compared adequately with other extractants. The main objective of this experiment was to compare this procedure with some other methods. Thirty nine calcareous soil samples from Fars Province with different ...

This paper is a continuation of [ER], where a model of interface dynamics was analyzed. This model is based on the Ginzburg-Landau equation in an unbounded one-dimensional domain. A similar model had originally been studied on a finite interval subject to Neumann boundary conditions by J. Carr and R.L. Pego, [CP1,CP2]. For a physical motivation and a discussion of related models, see Bray, [B],...

All cancer registries should be able to give some objective indication of the quality of the data that they have collected. The methods available were described in an early IARC Technical Report (Parkin et al., 1994) and updated in a pair of papers in 2009 (Parkin and Bray, 2009; Bray and Parkin, 2009). They describe four dimensions of quality: comparability, validity, timeliness, and completen...

Accurate determinations of the MS b-quark mass mb (mb) from σ (e +e− → hadrons) experimental data currently contain three comparable sources of uncertainty; the experimental uncertainty from moments of this cross-section, the uncertainty associated with αs (Mz), and the theoretical uncertainty associated with the renormalization scale. Through resummation of all logarithmic terms explicitly det...

In the Preface of his book, Bray insists his work is not about single cells possessing consciousness. “I say repeatedly in the book as clearly as English words will allow that in my opinion single cells are not sentient or aware in the same way that we are,” he writes (p. ix). The key part of this claim, however, is the clause “in the same way that we are.” Bray is not equating cellular and hum...

We study the interface between soft and hard QCD at high energy and small momentum transfer. At LHC and SSC energies, we find that a cutoff BFKL equation leads one to expect a measurable perturbative component in traditionally soft processes. We show that the total cross section could become as large as 175 mb (122 mb) and the ρ parameter 0.40 (0.25) at the SSC (LHC).
