We discuss the Aharonov–Bohm effect in three and four dimensional non– compact lattice Abelian Higgs model. We show analytically that this effect leads to the long–range Coulomb interaction of the charged particles, which is confining in three dimensions. The Aharonov–Bohm effect is found in numerical calculations in 3D Abelian Higgs model.

The goal of this paper is to provide an overview of an emerging new framework for understanding early phonetic development – The Natural Referent Vowel (NRV) framework. The initial support for this framework was the finding that directional asymmetries occur often in infant vowel discrimination. The asymmetries point to an underlying perceptual bias favoring vowels that fall closer to the perip...

This special issue highlights an empirical approach that has increasingly grown in prominence in the last decade—field experiments. While field experiments can be used quite generally in economics—to test theories’ predictions, to measure key parameters, and to provide insights into the generalizability of empirical results— this special issue focuses on using field experiments to explore quest...

A straightforward calculation reveals the essentially nonlocal character of the leading heavy QQ̄ interaction arising from nonperturbative gluon field correlations in the model of a fluctuating QCD vacuum. In light of this quarkonium spin splitting ratio predictions which have supported the scalar confinement ansatz are reconsidered as a specific example of possible consequences for spectroscopy.

We study the behavior of certain eigenvalues for magnetic Aharonov-Bohm operators with half-integer circulation and Dirichlet boundary conditions in a planar domain. We analyze the leading term in the Taylor expansion of the eigenvalue function as the pole moves in the interior of the domain, proving that it is a harmonic homogeneous polynomial and determining its exact coefficients.
