Industrial computed tomography (CT) images often suffer from beam hardening (BH) artefacts. Since beam hardening correction (BHC) is crucial in industrial CT, it is worth acquiring a good understanding of the BHC algorithms. The purpose of this work concerns the development of a phantom-based framework to assess the performance of BHC algorithms in industrial CT, and its application on several ...

Benign hereditary chorea (BHC) is a childhood-onset, hyperkinetic movement disorder normally with little progression of motor symptoms into adult life. The disorder is caused by mutations to the NKX2.1 (TITF1) gene and also forms part of the "brain-lung-thyroid syndrome", in which additional developmental abnormalities of lung and thyroid tissue are observed. In this review, we summarize the ma...

Studies were made by feeding 25 mg per kg body weight of BHC to rabbits daily for twelve weeks. BHC in the blood increased progressively without affecting blood pH. The levels of glucose, cholesterol, total proteins and creatinine increased while that of urea decreased in the blood of treated animals. The differences among the control and treated rabbits for these parameters were highly signifi...

Twenty microbial cultures which had been shown to degrade dieldrin were tested to determine their ability to degrade endrin, aldrin, DDT, gamma isomers of benzenehexachloride (gamma-BHC), and Baygon. All isolates were able to degrade DDT and endrin, whereas 13 degraded aldrin. However, none of them was able to degrade Baygon or gamma-BHC.

We give a nonstandard variant of Jordan’s proof of the Jordan curve theorem which is free of the defects his contemporaries criticized and avoids the epsilontic burden of the classical proof. The proof is selfcontained, except for the Jordan theorem for polygons taken for granted.

This paper assesses the impact of the geographic diversification of bank holding company (BHC) assets across the United States on their market valuations. Using two new identification strategies based on the dynamic process of interstate bank deregulation, we find that exogenous increases in geographic diversity reduced BHC valuations. We also find that the geographic diversification of BHC ass...

We demonstrate that at relatively low mass accretion rates, black hole candidate (BHC) X-ray binaries (XRBs) should enter ‘jet-dominated’ states, in which the majority of the liberated accretion power is in the form of a (radiatively inefficient) jet and not dissipated as X-rays in the accretion flow. This result follows from the empirically established non-linear relation between radio and X-r...

OBJECTIVE Although burr hole trephination is a safe and effective surgical option to treat patients with chronic subdural hematoma (CSDH), it often results in a small but undesirable scalp depression from burr hole defect. This study is to evaluate the efficacy of titanium burr hole cover (BHC) for reconstruction of skull defects in these patients. METHODS A hundred and ninety-six cases of bu...

BRAF35, a structural DNA-binding protein, initially was identified as a component of a large BRCA2-containing complex. Biochemical analysis revealed the presence of a smaller core-BRAF35 complex devoid of BRCA2. Here we report the isolation of a six-subunit core-BRAF35 complex with the capacity to deacetylate histones, termed the BRAF-histone deacetylase complex (BHC), from human cells. BHC con...

OBJECTIVE Although twist-drill craniostomy (TDC) has a number of procedural advantages and an equivalent outcome compared to burr hole craniostomy (BHC) for the treatment of chronic subdural hematomas (CSDHs), the latter technique remains the preferred method. We analyzed symptomatic CSDHs in whom TDC at the pre-coronal suture entry point (PCSEP) was the primary method for hematoma drainage and...
