In our continued effort to address the challenges of selective sp3 C-H fluorination on complex molecules, we report a sensitized aliphatic fluorination directed by terpenoidal enones using catalytic benzil and visible light (white LEDs). This sensitized approach is mild, simple to set up, and an economical alternative to our previous protocol based on direct excitation using UV light in a speci...
The ubiquitous ketone carbonyl group generally deactivates substrates toward radical-based fluorinations, especially sites closest to it. Herein, ketones are used instead to direct aliphatic fluorination using Selectfluor, catalytic benzil, and visible light. Selective β- and γ-fluorination are demonstrated on rigid mono-, di-, tri-, and tetracyclic (steroidal) substrates employing both cyclic ...
Synthesis routes to diphenyl hydantoin derivatives in the presence of benzils; 4,4-dimethylbenzil , 4-methylbenzil 4,4-bromobenzil 4-dimethylaminbenzoin and 4-amin-4-nitrobenzoin ure- give condensation benzil urea allowed by benzylic rearrangement.
BACKGROUND The oxidative transformation of benzoin to benzil has been accomplished by the use of a wide variety of reagents or catalysts and different reaction procedures. The conventional oxidizing agents yielded mainly benzaldehyde or/and benzoic acid and only a trace amount of benzil. The limits of practical utilization of these reagents involves the use of stoichiometric amounts of corrosiv...
ABSTRACT. The reaction between benzil and hexamethylenediamine formed a new ligand [L], [(1Z,3Z)-2,3-diphenyl-5,6,7,8,9,10-hexahydro-1,4-diazecine], of the type [N2], was synthesized by condensation through Schiff base hexamethylenediamine. reacts with Mnп, Niп Coп metal ions to give complexes general formula: [M(L)Cl2]. elemental investigations have been used analyze its CHN, FT-IR, UV-Vis, TL...
The synthesis of 2-aryl-4,5-diphenylimidazole via the condensation of various aromatic aldehydes, benzil and ammonium acetate in the presence of acetic acid was carried out in 86-95% yields by heating at 140 C. This method provides several advantages such as simple operation, short reaction time, and high yields.
The title compound, C(26)H(20)N(2), first reported in 1891, was obtained as a by-product in the preparation of benzildianil from benzil and excess aniline. The dihedral angles between the fused benzene ring and the pendant phenyl rings are 17.93 (11), 53.18 (10) and 89.08 (12)°.
