Service matching is one of the crucial elements in the success of large, open agent systems. While finding “perfect” matches is always desirable, it is not always possible. The capabilities of an agent may change over time; some agents may be unwilling to, or unable to communicate their capabilities at the right level of details. The solution we propose is to have the broker agent dynamically r...

In view of the fact that oil spill remote sensing could only generate the oil slick information at a specific time and that traditional oil spill simulation models were not designed to deal with dynamic conditions, a dynamic data-driven application system (DDDAS) was introduced. The DDDAS entails both the ability to incorporate additional data into an executing application and, in reverse, the ...

Until the middle of this century, fats and oils are the major raw material source for paints, coating and lubricating applications. These markets are completely taken over by petroleum based stocks due to their abundance and versatility. However, recent public awareness to use environmentally acceptable products that minimize pollution, are compatible to human health and readily biodegradable c...

In this paper, MASCONTROL, a multiagent system (MAS) for system identification and process control, is presented. This MAS implements a self-tuning regulator (STR) scheme. In this work, an Ontology Agent (OA) is included, using DAML+OIL as ontology language. From their experience, the authors consider this architecture highly useful for identification and control processes.

introduction high-producing dairy cows require large amounts of concentrates that are rich in energy and crude protein to meet their nutrient requirements. cereal grains and oil supplements are commonly used for increasing energy density of diets fed to high-producing dairy cows. dietary grain source (barley vs. corn) and oil supplement (soybean- vs. fish oil) resulted in varied dry matter inta...

The main purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between Iran’s heavy crude oil price returns and volatility dependence using the Copula-based quantile model (CQM). CQM is an efficient tool for analyzing nonlinear time series models as it has no need for initial assumptions.  We use monthly data from January 1990 to December 2019. We use the Hadrick-Prescott filter to calculate...

A molecule-based characterization methodology was developed for correlation and prediction of assays and properties for crude oil and petroleum fractions. From readily accessible crude oil, the assay data such as distillation curve, API gravity, and PNA contents, identifies an optimal set of chemical compositions of model hydrocarbon molecules that were designed to mimic measurable physical and...

Although fish oil-based and olive oil-based lipid emulsions have been shown to exert anti-inflammatory functions, the immunomodulating properties of lipids are still controversial. Therefore, we investigated the anti-inflammatory effect of three different parenterally administered lipid emulsions in vivo: olive oil-based Clinoleic, fish oil-based Smoflipid, and soybean oil-based Lipofundin. We ...

Natural crude-oil seepages, together with the oil released into seawater as a consequence of oil exploration/production/transportation activities, and operational discharges from tankers (i.e., oil dumped during cleaning actions) represent the main sources of sea oil pollution. Satellite remote sensing can be a useful tool for the management of such types of marine hazards, namely oil spills, m...
