Introduction: Impacts initiate dynamic fracturing on macro-and micro-scales, and the resulting fragmentation can be related to strain rate. The dynamic fracture process has been directly observed at low strain rates (~10-2 to 10-3 s-1 , during earthquakes) and at high strain rates (~10 5 to 10 6 s-1 , during laboratory-scale hypervelocity impact experiments) [1]. Based on first order estimates ...

Motivated by the optimization of link state routing in ad hoc networks, and the concept of multipoint relays, we introduce the notion of remote-spanner. Given an unweighted graph G, a remote spanner is a set of links H such that for any pair of nodes (u, v) there exists a shortest path in G for which all links in the path that are not adjacent to u belong to H. The remote spanner is a kind of m...

Glushkov’s algorithm builds an ε-free nondeterministic automaton from a given regular expression. In the worst case, its number of states is linear and its number of transitions is quadratic in the size of the expression. We show in this paper that in average, the number of transitions is linear.

Anterior glenoid fractures associated with glenohumeral instability are normally treated with open fixation of the fragment. However, recent technical development enables this procedure to be performed under arthroscopic control using screws or even suture anchors if the fragment is small enough. We developed a unique method of stabilizing a larger fragment with suture anchors and the use of a ...

Abs t rac t To analyse the demands made on the garbage collector in a graph reduction system, the change in size of an average graph is studied when an arbitrary edge is removed. In ordered binary trees the average number of deleted nodes as a result of cutting a single edge is equal to the average size of a subtree. Under the assumption that all trees with n nodes are equally likely to occur, ...

After chondroitinase digestion of bovine nasal and tracheal cartilage proteoglycans, subsequent treatment with trypsin or trypsin followed by chymotrypsin yielded two major types of polypeptide-glycosaminoglycan fragments which could be separated by Sepharose 6B chromatography. One fragment, located close to the hyaluronic acid-binding region of the protein core, had a high relative keratan sul...

Wireless local area network (WLAN) has increased rapidly, providing flexibility and mobility to the device users. This made the technology popular amongst a wide range of users in the universe. But one of the common problems we are overcoming is fragment loss. So far we were following a scheme to retransmit the entire packet if any fragment is lost. Here we introduce a new scheme called Aggrega...
