Mesoporous silica nanoparticles (MSNs) are known as carriers with high loading capacity and large functionalizable surface area for target-directed delivery. In this study, a series of docetaxel-loaded folic acid- or methionine-functionalized mesoporous silica nanoparticles (DTX/MSN-FA or DTX/MSN-Met) with large pores and amine groups at inner pore surface properties were prepared. The results ...
The present study synthesizes a novel adsorbent by coating Fe3O4 magnetic nanoparticles with amino functionalized mesoporous silica. The FTIR spectrums indicate that silica has been successfully coated on the surface of Fe3O4 and 3-aminopropyl tri methoxysilane compound have been grafted to the surface of silica-coated Fe3O4. The XRD analysis shows the presence of magnetite phase with cubic spi...
Carbon dioxide (CO2) adsorption on unfunctionalized and amino-functionalized SBA-3 materials are investigated and compared in this study. The synthesized materials are characterized by various techniques such as X-ray diffraction (XRD), Brunauer-Emmet-Teller (BET) method, Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) and Scanning electron microscopy (SEM).The isotherms of these materials have been measure...

Au nanoparticles decorated with mononuclear Ti-oxo units dispersed in silica clusters were formed by activating Au nanoparticles (~2 nm) stabilized with Ti- and amine-functionalized siloxane oligomers. These Au nanoparticles were active catalysts for selective oxidation of propane to acetone, and the activity increased with increasing Ti density.
Mesoporous SiO2 nanoparticles (MSNs) are one of the most promising materials for bio-related applications due to advantages such as good biocompatibility, tunable mesopores, and large pore volume. However, unlike the inorganic nanocrystals with abundant physical properties, MSNs alone lack functional features. Thus, they are not sufficiently suitable for bio-applications that require special fu...
A convenient and simple strategy for preparing water soluble, photoluminescent functionalized silica nanoparticles (M-dots) in the absence of fluorophores or metal doping is demonstrated. These M-dots can be used for bioimaging using one and two-photon microscopy. Because of their high photostability, low toxicity and high biocompatibility compared with Lumidot™ CdSe/ZnS quantum dots, functiona...
In this article, mercapto-functionalized helical mesoporous silica nanorods have been synthesized by a one-step co-condensation of tetraethoxysilane (TEOS) and 3-mercaptopropyltrimethoxysilane (MPTS) using cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) as a template. Process parameters, including MPTS concentration, stirring time and added volume of ethanol as co-solvent, were both carefully and accurat...
Mesoporous silica nanoparticles (MSNs) have been surface-functionalized with choline moieties encircled by sulfonatocalix[4]arenes. Two enzyme cleavable sites are incorporated in the stalks for specific enzymes to regulate the release of loaded cargos from MSNs. These gated materials show a clear enzymatic response and proven orthogonality.
A supramolecular assembly for visible light responsive release of cargo molecules is presented. Sulforhodamine 101 was loaded inside the mesopores of mercaptopropyl-functionalized mesoporous silica nanoparticles (MP-MSN) and entrapped by mercaptopropyl-coordinated Ru(bpy)(2)(PPh(3))-moieties. Irradiation with visible light triggers the release of capping species and loaded molecules.
