The nano-sized SiCp/Al–Cu composites were successfully fabricated by combining semisolid stirring with ball milling technology. Microstructures were examined by an olympus optical microscope (OM), field emission scanning electron microscope (FESEM) and transmission electron microscope (TEM). Tensile properties were studied at room temperature. The results show that the α-Al dendrites of the com...

The influence of alloying additions on strengthening of high pressure torsion (HPT) processed alloys was investigated using commercially pure Al (Al-1050 alloy) and five Al-(1-3)Mg-(0-4)Cu alloys (in wt%). Microhardness was measured on cross sections. For Al-1050 the microhardness reaches a peak at an effective strain of about 3 and subsequently decreases. The microhardness of Al-Mg-Cu alloys i...

With using the carbon nano-tube (CNT) of high chemical activity, nano-TiCx particles with different growth shapes were synthesized through the self-propagating high temperature in the 80 wt.% metal (Cu, Al, and Fe)-Ti-CNT systems. The growth shapes of the TiCx particles are mainly octahedron in the Cu- and Al-Ti-CNT systems, while mainly cube- and sphere-like in the Fe-Ti-CNT system.

An FeCoCrAlCu HEA coating was prepared on the surface of 45# steel by cold-spray-assisted induction remelting. The results showed that composed BCC and FCC phases. phase possessed an amplitude-modulated structure consisting a B1-disordered (FeCr) B2-ordered (AlCo), as well nanoscale precipitated near grain boundaries. solid solution Al–Cu matrix manifested characteristics typical twin structure...

PURPOSE This study aimed to develop a copper-aluminium-nickel alloy which has properties comparable to that of dental alloys used for dental post and core applications with the reasonable cost. MATERIALS AND METHODS Sixteen groups of experimental copper alloys with variants of 3, 6, 9, 12 wt% Al and 0, 2, 4, 6 wt% Ni were prepared and casted. Their properties were tested and evaluated. The da...

Studies of the microstructure, phase composition and mechanical characteristics, namely microhardness metal–ceramic composites made Fe 90 wt.%–Cu 10 wt.% powder hydroxyapatite (Fe-Cu-HA), are presented in manuscript. The composite material was obtained using additive manufacturing based on 3D-printing method, with different content levels (40, 45 50%) polymer parts (60, 55 50%). It is shown tha...

Knowledge of the kinetics of gas bubble formation and evolution under cavitation conditions in molten alloys is important for the control casting defects such as porosity and dissolved hydrogen. Using in situ synchrotron X-ray radiography, we studied the dynamic behaviour of ultrasonic cavitation gas bubbles in a molten Al-10 wt%Cu alloy. The size distribution, average radius and growth rate of...
