In a primary study on proinflammatory genetic profiles in stroke, the authors found the E469K polymorphism of the intercellular adhesion molecule 1 (ICAM-1) highly represented in the subgroup with spontaneous cervical artery dissection (sCAD). They further investigated the same genetic variant in a second group of 65 patients with sCAD. An association between sCAD and EE genotype was confirmed ...

Spontaneous coronary dissections (SCAD) can be asymptomatic or can manifest itself as any of the clinical spectrum of the ischemic heart disease. In this report, we present a 65 year old man presented with myocardial infarction in whom coronary angiography a nonocclusive SCAD was noticed in addition to a very late stent thrombosis and make a brief overview of the treatment for SCAD.

Background—Spontaneous coronary artery dissection (SCAD) is an acute coronary event of uncertain origin. Clinical features and prognosis remain insufficiently characterized. Methods and Results—A retrospective single-center cohort study identified 87 patients with angiographically confirmed SCAD. Incidence, clinical characteristics, treatment modalities, in-hospital outcomes, and long-term risk...

IMPORTANCE Spontaneous coronary artery dissection (SCAD) is a major cause of acute coronary syndrome in young women, especially among those without traditional cardiovascular risk factors. Prior efforts to study SCAD have been hampered by underrecognition and lack of registry-based studies. Risk factors and pathogenesis remain largely undefined, and inheritability has not been reported. OBSER...

BACKGROUND Nonatherosclerotic spontaneous coronary artery dissection (NA-SCAD) is underdiagnosed and an important cause of myocardial infarction in young women. The frequency of predisposing and precipitating conditions and cardiovascular outcomes remains poorly described. METHODS AND RESULTS Patients with NA-SCAD prospectively evaluated (retrospectively or prospectively identified) at Vancou...

BACKGROUND Limited knowledge exists on vascular risk factors, body height and weight in patients with spontaneous cervical artery dissection (sCAD). PATIENTS AND METHODS In this case-control study, major vascular risk factors, body weight, body height and body mass index (BMI) of 239 patients obtained from a prospective hospital-based sCAD registry were compared with 516 age- and sex-matched ...

Sequencing of a cellulosome-integrating gene cluster in Acetivibrio cellulolyticus was completed. The cluster contains four tandem scaffoldin genes (scaA, scaB, scaC, and scaD) bounded upstream and downstream, respectively, by a presumed cellobiose phosphorylase and a nucleotide methylase. The sequences and properties of scaA, scaB, and scaC were reported previously, and those of scaD are repor...

Background and Purpose—Abnormalities of dermal connective tissue have been detected in patients with spontaneous cervical artery dissections (sCAD), suggesting an underlying structural defect of the arterial wall. 1-Antitrypsin (A1-AT) is a circulating serine proteinase inhibitor of proteolytic enzymes that helps to maintain the integrity of elastic and collagen fibers. Methods—To test the hypo...
