A compact ultra-wideband (UWB) bandpass filter with high selectivity and deep notched band attenuation is presented in this letter. The main structure of this filter is a balun-based coplanar waveguide (CPW)-microstrip CPW transition. This structure has UWB bandpass characteristic (2.85– 11GHz) and a transmission zero at its lower transition band. To achieve a transmission zero at its upper tra...

We propose a type of hollow planar waveguide with corrugated walls, which can realize electrically tunable terahertz (THz) filtering by filling the slit liquid crystals. When THz signals propagate in periodic corrugations, transmission spectrum always exhibits many pass and stop bands. Inserting section defects middle corrugations excite an extremely narrow peak, would be very good filter for f...

Background. A further increase in the speed of information transfer is determined by more stringent requirements for elements communication devices. One most important components such devices various filters, which are often made on basis dielectric resonators. Calculation parameters multi-section filters impossible without development theory their design. The filter based electrodynamic modell...

We describe the design, fabrication and measurement of an integrated-optical Bragg grating filter, operating at a freespace wavelength of 1543 nm, based upon a silicon-on-insulator (SOI) ridge waveguide. The measured spectral response for a 4-mm long grating has a bandwidth of 15 GHz (0.12 nm), and shows good agreement with theoretical predictions.

We propose the use of interleaved graphene sections on top of a silicon waveguide to implement tunable Bragg gratings. The filter central wavelength and bandwidth can be controlled changing the chemical potential of the graphene sections. Apodization techniques are also presented.

A resonant grating mirror comprising a multilayer submirror and a grating slab waveguide submirror exhibiting constructive mutual reflection is shown experimentally to provide zero transmission. Its reflection line width of less than 1 nm, its polarization selectivity and low overall loss make the device usable as a longitudinal mode filter in a disk laser in the 1000-1100 nm wavelength range.

Introduction Photonic crystal is a periodic structure consisting of high contrast dielectrics, in which the electromagnetic wave cannot transmit in a specific wavelength range. It is therefore known that, if localized defects are introduced in the photonic crystal, the electromagnetic fields are strongly confined around the defects. For example, point defects in the photonic crystal work as res...

The design of a 10th-order waveguide bandpass filter with an additional inductive cross-coupling between non-adjacent resonators has been proposed and studied. An coupling is formed by U-shaped conductor structure grounded ends that in the cover. This method organization ensures not only temperature stability characteristics, but also manufacturability structure. high selectivity device achieve...

This paper gives an overview on recent achievements in micromachined technology for millimeter and submillimeter-wave applications, from 130 to 750 GHz. The micromachined components presented include the first ever submillimeter-wave MEMS devices, namely a 500600 GHz 3.3 bit phase shifter and a 500-750 GHz waveguide MEMS switch, a 0.02 dB/mm loss waveguide technology for the 220-330 GHz band wi...

Here, we propose an add-drop and a channel drop filter based on two-dimensional photonic crystal all circular ring resonators. These structures are made of a square lattice of silicon rods with the refractive index n1=3.464 surrounded by air (with refractive index n2=1). The broadest photonic band gap occurs at the filling ratio of r/a = 0.17. Two linear defect W1 waveguides couple to the ring....
