Virus-specific CD8 T cells after clearance of infection reduce their number in lymphoid organs by apoptotic death and by migration into peripheral tissues. During and after infection, many lymphocytic choriomeningitis virus (LCMV)-specific CD8 T cells in lymphoid but not peripheral tissues are in a preapoptotic state, as detected by the early apoptosis marker annexin V. In this report, we inves...

Virus proliferation in hypoxic animals was markedly reduced. Little difference in this respect between influenza virus (PR8) and mouse encephalomyelitis virus (Theiler's GD VII) was observed except that there was a longer depression of the latter virus. The possible mechanisms involved are discussed.

in this syudy a continuous bovine kidney cell line derived from a primary bovine kidney cells was established for the first time in iran. the cells were originating from two-day-old normal male calf of holstein breed. the cell cultures were continuously passaged following complete proliferation of primary cells. the specific properties or characteristics of the cell were defined using cytogene...

Neurogenesis, recovery from nerve injury, neurodegeneration, and Parkinson's disease affect people's health, yet the underlying molecular mechanisms remain elusive. Here, we investigated the effect of ganglioside GM1 and neural growth factor (NGF) on neural stem cell (NSC) proliferation and differentiation in vitro to provide a scientific basis for comprehensive treatment of nervous system dise...

OBJECTIVES To characterize the homeostasis of CD4FoxP3 regulatory T cells (Treg) and its association with immune hyperactivation in the disease progression of chronic HIV-1 infection. DESIGN Treg proliferation and apoptosis markers were determined and the relation to disease progression and Treg activation was analyzed. METHODS Fifty-six HIV-1-infected highly active antiretroviral therapy (...

Both normal and Rous sarcoma virus-infected chicken fibroblasts proliferate in an incubator containing 95% air, 5% CO2. In an incubator atmosphere enriched with oxygen, however, the normal fibroblasts are maintained without proliferation, while the Rous sarcoma virus-infected fibroblasts continue to proliferate. This suggests that a respiratory function may be involved in the regulation of prol...

The Ebstein Barr virus(EBV), herpes virus 5 has been associated with lymphoproliferative disordrers. Age-related EBV+ B-LPD is defined as an EBV+ clonal B-cell lymphoid proliferation or EBV+-DLBCL developing in patients over the age of 40 years in the absence of any known immunodeficiency and without an underlying T-cell lymphoma1. We present a case of EBV+ clonal B-cell lymphoid proliferation....

Objective(s): Cell therapy has provided clinical applications to the treatment of motor neuron diseases. The current obstacle in stem cell therapy is to direct differentiation of stem cells into neurons in the neurodegenerative disorders. Biomaterial scaffolds can improve cell differentiation and are widely used in translational medicine and tissue engineering. The aim...

Kyasanur Forest disease (KFD) virus is a highly pathogenic member of the family Flaviviridae producing a haemorrhagic disease in infected human beings. Despite this high pathogenicity and potential epidemiological importance, there have been relatively few detailed antigenic or molecular studies on KFD virus. The nucleotide sequences of the genes encoding the structural proteins of the virus ha...

objective(s): the ability to measure cellular proliferation non-invasively in renal cell carcinoma may allow prediction of tumour aggressiveness and response to therapy. the aim of this study was to evaluate the uptake of 18ffluorothymidine (flt) pet in renal cell carcinoma (rcc), and to compare this to 18f-fluorodeoxyglucose (fdg), and to an immunohistochemical measure of cellular proliferatio...
