Introduction: Disturbed blood flow, characterized by velocity fluctuations, accompanies many cardiovascular diseases and may contribute to their progression [1]. Phase-contrast (PC) MRI intravoxel velocity standard deviation (IVSD, σ) mapping permits the quantification of the intensity of velocity fluctuations (turbulence intensity) [2]. This is achieved by exploiting how the presence of multip...

Relationship between displacement and velocity amplitudes of seismic waves was examined with data at stations within 200 km from 142 local earthquakes in and near Japan. The expected value of the coefficient for the logarithmic velocity amplitude to the logarithmic displacement amplitude is 0.5 when a self-similar scaling model is assumed. Observed value of the coefficient is about 0.8∼0.9. Thi...

This study deals with the stochastic dynamic behaviors of nonlinear vibration of the fluid-conveying double-walled carbon nanotubes (DWCNTs) by considering the effects of the geometric nonlinearity and the nonlinearity of van der Waals (vdW) force. Besides, the small scale effects of the nonlinear vibration of the DWCNTs are investigated by using the theory of nonlocal elasticity. Some statisti...

ABSTRACT In this paper we analyse a sample of 46 barred galaxies MaNGA. Our goal is to investigate the stellar kinematics these and obtain their rotation curves. Additionally, aim derive total dynamical masses, as well maximum velocity, in order examine distributions scaling relations. Using Pipe3D dataproducts publicly available obtained curves, which were fitted considering two components an ...

We compared sensitivity to first- versus second-order motion in 5-year-olds and adults tested with stimuli moving at slower (1.5 degrees s(-1)) and faster (6 degrees s(-1)) velocities. Amplitude modulation thresholds were measured for the discrimination of the direction of motion (up vs. down) for luminance-modulated (first-order) and contrast-modulated (second-order) horizontal sine-wave grati...

We describe a phase-resolved functional optical coherence tomography system that can simultaneously yieldin situ images of tissue structure, blood flow velocity, standard deviation, birefringence, and the Stokes vectors in human skin. Multifunctional images were obtained by processing of analytical interference fringe signals derived from two perpendicular polarization-detection channels. The b...

The refractive indices, densities and ultrasonic velocities of binary liquid mixtures of tetrahydrofuran (THF) with methanol and o-cresol over the entire composition range have been measured at 293, 303 and 313 K. Refractive index, density and ultrasonic velocity data have been used to evaluate the molar refraction deviation ∆Rm, deviation in ultrasonic velocity ∆u, excess internal pressure π i...

We report the discovery of a strong correlation between the shape of a bulge’s light-profile and the mass of its central supermassive black hole (Mbh). We find that log(Mbh/M⊙) = 2.91(±0.38) log(n) + 6.37(±0.21), where n is the Sérsic r shape index. This correlation is shown to be at least as strong as the relationship between the logarithm of the stellar velocity dispersion and logMbh and has ...

If the standard deviation of distribution MIC values for a set wild-type isolates exceeds 1.18 log 2 μg/mL when calculated by NRI analysis or 1.11 ECOFFinder that data should be considered imprecise and not used to an epidemiological cut-off value.

To determine the dependence of cerebral blood flow (CBF) on arterial pressure over prolonged time periods, we measured beat-to-beat changes in mean CBF velocity in the middle cerebral artery (transcranial Doppler) and mean arterial pressure (Finapres) continuously for 2 h in six healthy subjects (5 men and 1 woman, 18-40 yr old) during supine rest. Fluctuations in velocity and pressure were qua...
