We use equivariant K-theory to classify charges of new (possibly non-supersymmetric) states localized on various orientifolds in Type II string theory. We also comment on the stringy construction of new D-branes and demonstrate the discrete electric-magnetic duality in Type I brane systems with p+ q = 7, as proposed by Witten.

I comment on the PDDL 2.1 language and its use in the planning competition, focusing on the choices made for accommodating time and concurrency. I also discuss some methodological issues that have to do with the move toward more expressive planning languages and the balance needed in planning research between semantics and computation.

The use of multicast inference on end-to-end measurement has recently been proposed as a means to infer network internal characteristics such as packet loss rate and network topology. In this paper we propose and evaluate new algorithms for multicast topology inference based on measurement of end-to-end loss. We compare their accuracy and comment on their computational complexity.

We make a brief comment on measurement of quantum operators with degenerate eigenstates and apply to quantum teleportation. We also try extending the quantum teleportation by Bennett et al [5] to more general situation by making use of generalized Bell states. In this paper, we introduce a package for semi-supervised learning research in the R programming language called RSSL. We cover the purpose of the package, the methods it includes and comment on their use and implementation. We then show, using several code examples, how the package can be used to replicate well-known results from the semi-supervised learning literature.

In this paper we describe a parallel implementation of a preconditioned conjugate gradient algorithm on the Meiko CS The parallel implemen tation is based on the use of a global reduction operator this allows to obtain a simple and e cient code whose performance is easily and pre cisly predictable We describe and validate a performance model and we show and comment experimental results

We comment on the implementation of various algorithms in multivariate polynomial theory. Specifically, we describe a modular computation of triangular sets and possible applications. Next we discuss an implementation of the F4 algorithm for computing Gröbner bases. We also give examples of how to use Gröbner bases for vanishing ideals in polynomial and rational function interpolation.

I discuss recent progress in our understanding of the ππ scattering amplitude at low energy thanks to the combined use of chiral perturbation theory and dispersion relations. I also comment on the criticism raised by Peláez and Ynduráin on this work.

Recent developments based on relativistic hydrodynamic models in high energy heavy ion collisions are discussed. I focus especially on how hydrodynamics works at RHIC energies and how one can use the most of it in analyses of jet quenching and thermal electromagnetic radiations. I also comment on improvement of initial conditions and viscosity in hydrodynamic models.

We use the 1/Nc method to estimate electromagnetic contributions to vector meson masses and mixings. We identify several new sources of ρ−ω mixing coming from short-distance effects. We comment on the extraction of quark masses from the vector meson masses. We also present a simple group theoretical discussion of the electromagnetic mass differences.
