Let U(g) denote the universal enveloping algebra of a Lie algebra g. We show the existence of a ribbon algebra structure in a particular deformation of U(g) which leads to a symmetric pre-monoidal category of U(g)-modules.

In order to realize the quantum group in a global way, the Hall algebra of a root category (which is a orbit category of the derived category of a hereditary algebra) is constructed. The PBW-basis, ltration structure and integral form are investigated. Their degeneration at v = 1 actually provide a realization of the universal enveloping algebra of semisimple Lie algebras.
Let A be a simple separable unital locally approximately subhomogeneous C*algebra (locally ASH algebra). It is shown that A ⊗ Q can be tracially approximated by unital Elliott-Thomsen algebras with trivial K1-group, where Q is the universal UHF algebra. For any L ∞-algebra L we construct an A ∞-algebra structure on the symmetric coalgebra Sym * c (L) and prove that this structure satifies properties generalizing those of the usual universal enveloping algebra. We show that the automorphism group of the countable universal distributive lattice has strong uncountable cofinality, and we adapt the method to deduce the strong uncountable cofinality of the automorphism group of the countable universal generalized boolean algebra.
